715 Hours on the engine and 600 on the genset!!
So are you going? This yacht gives you the whole planet - any ocean, any island, any port, available to you right now. The Krogen 44 is designed to be the most capable and liveable cruising yacht of her size in the world. Period. This yacht has all of the systems necessary so that you can bring clothes and food and go literally anywhere in the world, right now.
715 Hours!! That's not a typo! The bonus for Essayons is her vintage, condition, care and equipment, along with her history. She has everything you would ever need. All systems have been diligently maintained and updated. As to overall care, look at the photos of the reflections in the gelcoat and the engine spaces. Her condition is excellent. Her age puts her in the flatter portions of the depreciation curve. Meaning you can park your boat budget in this yacht, dedicate yourself to care for her at this level, go have your years of adventures, and then get almost all of your investment back, or more. Our owners do this all the time.
While everything is subjective, I can't imagine needing anything else as far as capabilities, comfort, in fact luxury, to spend the next many years cruising the world. On the other hand, the owners are moving up to a 50 and wouldn't have anything other than a Krogen.
So here it is, the budget, the condition, the equipment and capabilities, the whole package! She has lived a life in waiting, where her owners got side-tracked by life and haven't gotten to really explore with her. Which brings us back to the question....are you going or not?
From the large and fully-covered aft deck you enter the saloon through double powder-coated aluminum, water-tight doors. The saloon is bright and airy by virtue of large opening windows to port and starboard as well as an aft bulkhead opening window. On the starboard side is an L-shaped settee and hi-lo teak table that can easily seat 6-8 people for dinner. Plenty of room a couple of recliners, ottomans, and side table. Forward of the saloon on the starboard side is the open-faced U-shaped galley that has everything you are used to in a home, all the while making sure the chef is part of the party. There is plenty of counter space, drawer and locker storage and an opening port. Opposite the galley is additional storage and counter space as well book/display shelving and a bar area.
Down and forward from the galley are the owner and guest cabins along with the large head, and washer and dryer cabinet. The guest cabin is to starboard with a convertible settee, desk, hanging locker, good drawer and locker storage. There are also two (2) stainless steel opening ports for additional natural ventilation and light. Forward in the guest cabin is a water-tight, sound dampening hatch which is one of the access points to the engine room, along with a floor hatch and ladder in the main saloon.
Opposite the guest cabin is the large head with separate stall shower. The vanity has a Corian countertop and sink, mirrored medicine cabinet, additional locker storage, and an opening port. The large stall shower has a bi-fold door, molded seat, and another opening port. Located between the head and the master cabin is the laundry with separate washer and dryer.
Forward is the owner's cabin with large queen island berth. There are two (2) hanging lockers, dresser with a large lighted mirror, four (4) opening ports, and an overhead screened hatch. Also, there is voluminous storage under the berth, accessed via a large platform with pneumatic struts. One subtle, but very desirable feature of the 44' is the solid bulkhead forward, no chain locker doors forward allowing heat, humidity, and odor into the living space. Also, no chines on the thick hull mean no hull slap at anchor.
Moving up and forward from the galley is the raised pilothouse, the center of operations while underway. Not only does the captain have a commanding view from his highback helm chair, but there is plenty of room for visitors with the raised settee and table. The settee is convertible for overnight friends and family or for overnight passages. There are powder-coated aluminum dutch doors port and starboard, two (2) opening ports in the aft bulkhead, and two (2) screened overhead hatches.
Exiting the pilothouse forward is the uncluttered foredeck with chain locker access and an inviting seat across the front of the pilothouse. You will spend a lot of leisure time here! High rails all around provide added protection while underway. The flybridge has the optional mast and boom so that you can lower the dinghy on either side. Electric winches make launch and retrieval simple. The mast is hinged making Essayons a perfect candidate for the Great Loop. With the tender deployed, the upper deck becomes another large outdoor living area in addition to the built in seating on the Flybridge.
The lower side decks and aft deck are solid teak and covered by the boat deck. The cockpit is spacious, with plenty of room for deck chairs and table. Note that the overhead in the cockpit extends all the way aft over the rail, so you can enjoy the outside seating even if it rains at anchor. There is a fullsize transom door, and also step-thru doors to port and starboard. In addition, the is a fresh water hot and cold water shower just inside the transom door. There are also boarding gates to port and starboard forward.
Hull and superstructure molds from high-grade female tooling.
Hull construction includes use of USA-made Cook® gel coat.
Hand-laid Kyntex® fiberglass construction with closed-cell PVC sandwich core used in topsides. Solid fiberglass below waterline with blister-resistant vinyl ester resin utilized on first two laminates below waterline.
Impact resistant aramid/FRP reinforced stem and stern bottom areas. This is the same type of material that is known as Kevlar under a different brand.
The massive stringer system utilized by Krogen provides high strength but at a lower weight. Superstructure includes Coracell closed cell foam core and Kyntex® surface mats for print-through reduction.
Teak aft and side decks. Boat and fore decks have GripTex® non-skid finish.
Bulwark has molded plank lines with gel coat finish. Polyurethane formulate marine secants used at hull-to-deck, boat deck and exterior fittings.
The keel has an additional 2,500lbs of lead for added stability and comfort at sea. The hull is as strong as can be made with fiberglass far surpassing other builders.
