To design the Sun Odyssey 410, Jeanneau reached out long standing design partner Marc Lombard, who was assisted by Jean-Marc Piaton. Together, they delivered on the challenge of bringing the classic Jeanneau styling into a modern yacht. Like the 440 and 490, the Sun Odyssey 410 features a generous beam and walk-around deck, ensuring life on deck is comfortable and spacious, either under way or at anchor. Simple sail handling is ensured through the use of an integrated bow sprit, inboard winches, and recessed wells for controls.
The Lombard-designed, hard chine hull combined with a high aspect cathedral rig, ensure this boat delivers on its high performance aspirations. The fine entry wave piercing bow significantly reduces drag, while giving the boat a distinctive look. In addition, careful consideration has been put into weight distribution and balance in the sail plan, bringing a new level of performance to the Sun Odyssey line. Even the most competitive sailor will love the speed, responsiveness, and ease of handling while at the wheel.
In addition to higher performance than ever before, the Sun Odyssey generation deliver comfort like never before. The high volume hulls allow for bright, comfortable interiors. Like the Sun Odyssey 440 and 490, the 410 features a contemporary, central galley that is ultra-functional and with an abundance of storage. The central daybed, perfect for relaxation, is unique to the 410 and a key feature in this cozy saloon. A large, fully functional nav station to port provides for plenty of room for serious navigation as well as additional electronics.
A Revolutionary Deck: The Walk-Around Concept
The most striking and widely discussed feature of the Sun Odyssey 410 is its "walk-around" side decks. In a traditional cockpit design, moving from the helm to the bow requires stepping over high cockpit coamings-a maneuver that can be precarious in heavy seas.
Jeanneau solved this by sloping the side decks downward as they run aft, allowing them to merge directly with the cockpit sole behind the twin helms. This creates a continuous, step-free path from the transom all the way to the bow. Not only does this enhance safety by keeping the center of gravity low for moving crew, but it also allows the helmsman to stand outboard of the wheels with an unobstructed view of the sail trim and the horizon.
Complementing this accessibility is a lowered boom. By angling the boom downward toward the gooseneck, Jeanneau has made it significantly easier to manage the mainsail. Sailors can reach the head of the sail to tuck it into the stack-pack without having to climb onto the coachroof or jump on top of the cockpit table.
Performance-Driven Architecture
Despite its focus on comfort, the 410 is a performance-oriented vessel at its core. The hull features a full-length hard chine that provides several mechanical advantages:
Initial Stability: The chine allows the boat to "lock in" when heeled, providing a stable platform that resists further tipping.
Increased Volume: By pushing the beam outward low in the hull, Jeanneau has created massive interior volume, especially in the cabins and galley.
Reduced Drag: The inverted bow (scow-inspired) increases the effective waterline length while reducing pitching in a chop.
Under sail, the boat is known for being remarkably balanced. The twin rudders provide exceptional grip, ensuring the helm remains responsive even when the boat is well-powered up. With a standard sail area of approximately 865 square feet, the 410 is capable of impressive speeds; in 9 knots of true wind, owners can expect to see over 5 knots of boat speed at a 35-degree apparent wind angle.
Interior Innovation: A "Home at Sea"
Stepping below through the gently angled three-step companionway, the interior feels more like a modern apartment than a traditional boat cabin. The layout is available in several configurations, typically offering 2 or 3 cabins with 1 or 2 heads.
The Central Galley and Lounge
Unlike many boats that tuck the galley into a corner, the 410 features a centrally located J-shaped galley. This positioning is functional for offshore cooking, providing excellent bracing points for the chef.
The Daybed: A unique feature of the 410 is the central "chaise longue" or daybed located inboard of the galley. It serves as a cozy spot for off-watch resting and can be extended to provide additional seating for the saloon table.
Rectangular Berths: In a rare move for this size class, Jeanneau utilized the hull's volume to fit true rectangular beds in the cabins, allowing owners to use standard household bedding rather than custom-cut boat sheets.
This lightly used Jeanneau 410 features the following in addition to a long list of factory and custom options -
- Lithium battery bank with solar charging
- Generator
- Inverter
- Full Raymarine electronics (GPS plotter, MFD, autopilot, radar, AIS)
