Accommodations

The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40 offers a bright, highly functional interior layout that balances privacy and shared living space. Available in either a two-cabin or three-cabin configuration, the cabins feature comfortable double berths, hanging lockers, and generous headroom. Large overhead hatches and hull ports ensure the interior feels spacious, ventilated, and connected to the water. Banana Wind is the two private sleeping cabin model.

The two-cabin layout of the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 40 is widely considered the ultimate "owner's configuration". By eliminating the second aft cabin found in the three-cabin version, the layout drastically expands liveability, culinary space, and storage for long-range cruising couples.

• Forward Owner’s Stateroom: Features a large full width double berth, a small dressing seat, a hanging locker, and dedicated shelving line items.

• Aft Guest Cabin: Located on the port side, featuring a modified queen-size berth, high-clearance headroom, side hull ports for natural light, and a hanging locker.

• The Head: A single, large head compartment sits to port just ahead of the aft cabin. This area features a much larger footprint with a separate, dedicated shower area.

Expanded U-Shaped Galley

The defining highlight of the 2-cabin version is its massive U-shaped galley to starboard. Unlike the narrower linear or L-shaped galleys in 3-cabin versions, this masterclass in maritime ergonomics provides excellent bracing points for cooking safely while underway. Storage capacity multiplies significantly in this configuration, making it a favorite for liveaboards.

• Salon & Bilge Stowage:

  • Outfitted with extensive under-bench storage compartments beneath the main U-shaped dining settee to starboard, deep drop-down storage wells behind the seat cushions, and multiple wood-faced upper cabinets along the hull sides. To port she has two single seats with a table inbetween allowing for a comfortable nav station when needed. Aft and behind the aft seat is the electric panel, Liquor locker, VHF, Luxpro AC/HT control, Freedom inverter/charger, Sony AM/FM/CD and 2nd unit Raymarine Chartplotter.
  • Her interior is warm and inviting yet bright and light as well. 2 tone beige striped fabric on all the cushions in the salon. Teak bulkheads and cabinetry, teak and holly sole thru out, curtains for sidelights and portlights as well as shades for all the overhead hatches.
  • Centerline is the companionway to the large cockpit, This also serves as access to the diesel engine. Her cockpit offers comfort as well as dual helms with repeated electronics.
  • Cockpit Layout & Ergonomics
  • • Dual Helms: The twin wheels open up a wide, unobstructed central walkway leading from the companionway straight through to the transom. It also gives the helmsperson optimal line-of-sight visibility forward and clear views of the jib tell-tales from both the port and starboard rails.
  • • Fixed Cockpit Table: A sturdy fiberglass console sits dead-center between the helms, acting as a brace point while heeled, housing navigation plotters, and featuring folding leaves for outdoor dining.
  • • Walk-Through Transom: The reverse transom opens up to a low-profile integrated swim platform complete with a folding stainless steel ladder and a hot/cold freshwater transom shower.
  • • Deep Coamings: Elevated cockpit coamings provide deep back support for guests and keep the cockpit well-protected from spray.
  • She has nice wide side decks offering access to the foredeck and the Mast when needed.
