Additional Information

Let's give you a walk-through the boat!

When you step aboard from the swim platform you will notice a well placed stern shower and flip up swim ladder.  You then go forward into the cockpit via the walkway with a seat the can be raised or lowered for convenient passage aft or a comfortable place to sit while steering.  The teak in the cockpit is beautiful and serves well for no-skid surface when sailing.  The large wheel has a cluster of instruments and compass for easy navigation.  You have a large dodger with expansive windows and a very nice bimini with a connector to the dodger for rain and sun protection. Another very nice feature of the boat is that there is minimal stern rails, and they are instead replaced by removable life-lines.  This opens up the aft area of the cockpit for easy access on and off the boat, as well as not interfering with your view when dining in the cockpit.  Speaking of dining... there is a nice sized folding cockpit table suitable for cocktails and serving dinner!

The side decks are very spacious allowing for easy passage forward to the bow or to exit the boat via the side lifeline gates.  Going to the bow, there is a large anchor locker that stores the chain and anchor rode.  An electric winch makes anchoring a breeze.  There is a plow style anchor on a roller at the bow for easy deployment and retrieval.  The Pro-furl roller furling unit is set up so that it is easier to see under the foot of the genoa.  There is a seat in the pulpit.

As you travel back to the cockpit, you will see the aluminum mast with two sets of spreaders.  The mainsail is a traditional sail which stores in a lazy bag with lazy jacks.  There is a mainsheet traveler to assist in fine tuning the trim of the mainsail.  The deck features inboard genoa tracks to enhanse pointing ability.  There are large storage lockers in the cockpit, as well as a locker that holds two gas bottles.

Going below you will experience the beautiful wood that makes this vessel so impressive!  The rich wood tone is so special and not seen in many of today's production boats.  The layout was described above, but let's recap in greater detail.  You have a galley to starboard with double sinks, refrigeration/freezer, stove with oven and ample storage.  There are opening ports for extra ventilation and light.

To port is a very comfortable navigation table and work station.  Here you will find a second chart plotter, the VHF radio, air conditioning controls, a stereo and the electrical panel for systems control.  There is a large hanging locker aft of the Nav table.

Forward of the nav station is a long settee.  Opposite is the dining area.  This is very comfortable and bright, thanks to the large cabin house windows and hull windows.  The table can drop down to form another sleeping area.  There are curtains to keep out light and provide privacy.

Forward in the bow is a comfortable primary cabin.  It features plenty of locker space with room for hanging clothes.  A nice touch here is the ensuite sink for private washing up.  The berth is large and the cabin is very bright, as well as nicely ventilated.  This cabin also features hull windows to bring in light, but also allowing a view of the surrounding areas.

Throughout the interior you will enjoy the wood as mentioned earlier, but you will also notice the beautiful and rich feeling, dark blue interior fabric.  The fabric is in very good condition and really compliments the wood.

When coming aft you will notice the large stateroom on the starboard side.  This is a very comfortable cabin with a very large bed.  There is overhead ventilation and plenty of lights to make this cabin just as comfortable as the primary cabin.  There is ample storage including hanging locker space.

Aft of the navigation table is the head.  This space is oversized for a 37' boat.  There is a marine head with holding tank.  A nice feature of the holding tank is that it can be gravity drained when waters that permit this, such as when offshore with no pump out facilities around.  There is a nice sized sink with a single lever faucet.  There is a mirror behind the sink and there is plenty of storage in the head.  In the shower, there is an added feature of a large wet locker for hanging foul weather gear.  The stall shower is separate from the sink area and helps keep post showering cleanup to a minimum.  There are two opening side ports in the head to bring in light, but also allow for great ventilation.

The Sun Odyssey 37 was designed as a great family cruising boat.  She has plenty of space in the cockpit and down below to make longer cruises comfortable without feeling cramped or over crowded.  She has plenty of sail area in her main and genoa to offer excellent sailing performance, even in light air.  The shallow draft keel allows you to explore many more harbors that many sailboats of similar size can not get into.

Features:

Sails - main 2015 dacron, 155% genoa 2015 triradial cruiselam

Aluminum mast with two sets of spreaders, aluminum boom with block and tackle boom vang.  Pro-Furl roller furling unit.  All of the cockpit winches are Harken self-tailing models for easy trimming.  The mainsail/boom features single line reefing on 2 reefs, so it eliminates the need to leave the cockpit when reefing the main.

The electrical system is both 12v (2- 6v as well) and 110v shore power.  There are 2 - 6v 210ah AGM batteries, and 1 - 12v 70ah AGM battery for the house bank.  There is a 12v 70ah engine start battery.  The alternator has been upgraded to 100amp.  The charging system uses and ACR charge controller.  There are dual shore power inlets on the transom, one is for shore power and the other is for phone/TV hookup.

For navigation there are two chartplotters, a compass, auto pilot, wind and speed instruments.  There is an ICOM VHF radio for communications and a stereo unit below for listing to music.

Grappa is a very well equipped vessel that has been diligently maintained.  She is very nice looking and not overly complicated to operate.  She represents a very good value and should be on your list of yachts to investigate if you are looking in this size range.
