Brokers Comments
"Nepenthe" is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 32. "Nepenthe" has a modern appearance and has many of the features that todays buyers are looking for in this size range.
The famous yacht designer Philippe Briand lead the team who designed the Sun Odyssey 32. She has attractive looks and a roomy interior for her length and beam. Her PHRF handicap would be in the 150s, based on information on the US Sailing website. This means she should have a good turn of speed under sail for a cruising sailboat of this length. The lead fin keel with a tapered bulb and the spade rudder helps her performance.
The combination of a forward cabin with a double v-berth and an aft cabin with an athwartship double berth affords privacy for two couples or a couple with children. Both cabins have doors. Refrigeration, stove/oven, hot/cold pressure water, shower, fans, swim platform, and other features make this a desirable boat for coastal cruising or day sailing. Four adults could take multi-week trips on a Sun Odyssey 32. Moorings selected the Sun Odyssey 32 for their charter boat fleet.
Ease of handling is enhanced by having an in-mast furling mainsail as well as a furling Genoa. All lines lead to the cockpit. There are six rope clutches and three self-tailing winches. The cockpit has a pedestal with wheel steering and an instrument pod. Anchoring chores are eased with an electric windlass. She should be a relatively easy boat to sail short-handed or even single-handed.
The owner and his wife have upsized to a 45 sailboat and therefore have put "Nepenthe" up for sale. ("Nepenthe" has a perfect name. It is a drug described in Homers Odyssey that banishes grief or trouble from a persons mind.)
