"Ricochet" is a nicely maintained example of this versatile design by Rod Johnstone. She is equally comfortable cruising the coast, racing around the cans or even distant offshore races.
She has been yard maintained and stored indoors heated for the past dozen winters.
With a carbon fiber mast and an extensive sail inventory including multiple asymmetric spinnakers, performance is assured. This is a great boat for family sailing, cruising with two couples or bringing home the silverware.
"Ricochet" Has a brand new (2026) North 3Di fully battened mainsail and a brand new (2026) North 3Di 150%genoa for racing but also includes a full complement of older sails for cruising and day sailing if desired.
Down below the J/120 is straightforward and very nicely appointed.
Upon entering the boat from the companionway, you are immediately in the main salon, with the navigation station to starboard and the galley to port.
The main cabin has two settees, port and starboard that easily convert to berths and Pilot berths.
The forward stateroom has its own door into the head, has room for two people to move around at once, and a seat for sitting down and reading when somebody needs some time to themselves during a cruise. The cabin features a double v-berth, a hanging locker, a changing seat with storage below, duffle storage below the berth, a bureau with drawers to starboard and a private head entrance.
Aft of the forward cabin there is one nicely detailed head near the mast, with a molded easy to clean liner. The head can also be accessed by a door in the main cabin. It includes a shower (hot & cold water), sink, vanity, mirror, storage and a Jabsco marine toilet.
The Aft cabin is to starboard and features a quarter berth. and has plenty of headroom for standing or changing clothes
The galley is perfectly situated to port, within arms reach of the companionway. It has plenty of places to brace oneself out at sea, and a moderate amount of stowage. Just aft of the galley is my favorite thing about the interior. The area aft of the galley has been left open and is easily accessible from the galley, providing a great pantry and stowage area for longer trips.
Storage is important and there is plenty here. Located in the aft galley bulkhead is storage for cups, bowls and plates. There are two drawers for utensils and a pot storage cabinet. There is additional pot and pan storage under the oven. Cleaning supplies store under the sink. The counter tops are formica. There is a manual fresh water pump
