Spirited Performance and Exceptional Livability...
"The Island Packet 27 features the highly successful Island Packet design concept that combines a modern full keel with handsome traditional styling, a versatile, easy managed rig, and an unusually spacious and livable interior. The modern full keel design, unique to the Island Packet line, provides the benefits of spirited, powerful performance comparable to deeper fin keel designs, with added advantages of "hand-off" tacking and fingertip steering control, and superior sea-keeping and safety. And the moderate draft full keel gives the full capability for blue water passages as well as exploring shallow coastal waters.
On deck, the Island Packet 27 features a wide bowsprit anchor platform, raised bulwarks, premium coarse diamond nonskid, full-length cabin top handrails, and double bow and stern rails with double lifelines for secure deck work. The roomy cockpit features contoured seats with deep coaming backrests, a comfortable helmsman's seat, large seat locker and loose gear tray, cockpit icebox, watertight engine access hatch and rack and pinon geared wheel steering for precise feel and utmost reliability." ~ Island Packet 27 Brochure
“Step aboard this 27-footer and there's no "bobbly" small boat sensation. At 8,000 pounds she sits solid in the water. Her big-boat feel comes from the way she's built. Her long keel may set her apart from the crowd, but rugged construction is another Island Packet hallmark, and it all started here."
100% hand laid fiberglass construction throughout with ISO/NPG type gelcoat for maximum durability, PolyClad bottom gelcoat system. The hull is molded in one piece with extra strong triaxial glass, unified with an engineered molded interior grid structure. The deck is laminate cored with advanced PolyCore - a tough micro sphere & resin matrix that has maximum resistance to rot and delamination and is attached to integrally molded hull flange with bolts, lock nuts, and urethane adhesive sealant. All deck hardware is through-bolted with aluminum backing plates. Combination teak rub/cap rail with stainless steel striker and teak cap on bowsprit add to her beauty.
