"Wind Walker" is a clean, well maintained Island Packet 26 MK II.  This Island Packet is a very popular design with plenty of room and great for cruising.  In 2013 she got two new batteries and a new bulkhead compass.  She is ready to go sailing.

Accommodations:

Wind Walker has a beam of 10'6" which leave plenty of room down below for comfort.  Her double forward v-berth and the main cabin has single berth on the port side and a double berth on the starboard side.  The cabin has a table that folds away which allows more room throughout.  The enclosed head just aft of the V-berth with stainless steel sink, electric pump and shower is a great perk.  The galley has a stainless steel sink and a larrge ice box as well as an counter extension that fold away when not needed.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1983 Island Packet 26MK II is a well-regarded cruiser known for its solid construction and comfortable accommodations. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Sturdy Build: Island Packet yachts are renowned for their heavy-duty fiberglass construction and robust design, offering exceptional durability and safety in various sea conditions.

Comfortable Interior: Despite its compact size, the 26MK II features a thoughtfully laid-out interior with quality woodwork, providing a cozy and inviting living space.

Stability and Handling: The full keel design contributes to excellent stability and tracking, making it well-suited for long-distance cruising.

Good Storage: Ample storage compartments below deck help keep the cabin organized and clutter-free.

Traditional Aesthetic: Classic lines and a timeless design appeal to sailors who appreciate traditional cruising yachts.

Cons

Speed: The heavy displacement and full keel design mean the boat is not built for speed, so it may be slower compared to lighter, fin-keel sailboats.

Limited Cockpit Space: The cockpit area is relatively small, which may feel cramped when sailing with multiple crew or entertaining guests.

Outdated Equipment: Being a 1983 model, some onboard systems and hardware might require updating or maintenance to meet modern standards.

Draft Considerations: While the moderate draft allows access to many cruising grounds, it may be limiting in very shallow waters.

Made For

The 1983 Island Packet 26MK II is ideal for sailors seeking a sturdy, comfortable, and easy-to-handle cruising sailboat. Its design caters to individuals or small families who appreciate classic craftsmanship, reliable performance, and a spacious interior for extended weekend trips or coastal cruising.
