WOW !! JUST REDUCED TO $ 89,000 !!! Great condition, great equipment, plus this 43' MK III model is one of Ted Irwin's best designs featuring a center cocpit, cutter rig with roller furling on both main & genoa, shoal draft winged keel, plus two staterooms with private heads. This is just the beginning, and then the boat's owners have added all of the equipment to make her an excellent offshore cruising sailboat, so you can anchor up for weeks on end.  She has been methodically updated  over the past several years, so she will take very little work for your journeys. Fresh bottom paint in 2018, along with hull compounded/waxed.  The owner is relocating and does not have time to use her,  thus causing him to put the boat on the market at this price.  ANXIOUS TO SELL !!! PRESENTLY LOCATED IN BRUNSWICK, GA. !!!!

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1989 Irwin Center Cockpit sailboat offers a blend of classic design and practical features, making it a popular choice among cruising enthusiasts. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Spacious Center Cockpit: Provides excellent visibility and a comfortable, protected seating area, ideal for long passages and socializing.

Robust Construction: Known for solid fiberglass build quality, offering durability and confidence in various sea conditions.

Good Interior Layout: Typically features a roomy cabin with ample storage, comfortable berths, and a functional galley, making extended cruising more enjoyable.

Stable Sailing Performance: The design balances stability and handling, suitable for both coastal cruising and offshore adventures.

Generous Tank Capacities: Often equipped with larger water and fuel tanks, supporting longer voyages without frequent resupply.

Cons

Weight: The sturdy build comes with a heavier displacement, which can affect light wind performance and make trailering impractical.

Age-Related Wear: Being a 1989 model, it may require updates or maintenance on systems like plumbing, electrical, and rigging to ensure reliability.

Limited Speed: While stable, the design prioritizes comfort over speed, so it may not satisfy those seeking a faster sailing experience.

Center Cockpit Height: The elevated cockpit can result in a higher center of gravity and potentially more windage, which might affect handling in strong winds.

Interior Style: The décor and fittings reflect the late 1980s style, which may feel dated to some and could require modernization to suit contemporary tastes.

Made For

The 1989 Irwin Center Cockpit is ideal for sailors seeking a spacious and comfortable cruising sailboat with a center cockpit design. It is well-suited for families or couples who want a reliable vessel for coastal cruising or extended voyages, offering ample living space, good stability, and user-friendly handling. Its design caters to those who value both comfort and performance on the water.
