The Hunter 40 is a new generation Marlow-Hunter with great styling, surprising performance and all the newest features from the innovation leader.  Check out the new quality upgrades and new features described below.

MHQ 2.0

The innovation leader has done it again.  Hunter brought you Walk-Through Transoms, the Traveler Arch and the B&R Easy Sail Rig.  Now the new Marlow-Hunter team has unleashed a barrage of Quality upgrades-MHQ 2.0.  Hunter is the first and only production sailboat manufacturer to eliminate all balsa and plywood from hulls and decks and go to All Synthetic Construction.  The boats will be lighter and stronger thanks to Nida-Core honeycomb synthetic coring in hulls and decks and Kevlar reinforced hulls from bow to keel to chainplates. The Vinyl-Ester resins have been upgraded as well making the surface below the gel-coat three times stronger, virtually eliminating cracking, crazing or blistering.  The new gel coat upgrade to HK Gel Coat will provide a harder, smoother surface and allows for more fade-resistant colors.  Hunter will now offer an array of gel coat color hulls at an extremely affordable price.

This sleek looking Hunter 40 is a spirited boat with all the newest features from the innovation leader.  See that bow rising just over the waves-she is a quick boat and fun to sail with twin helms and an easy to handle B&R rig.  Combine that performance with the acclaimed favorite Hunter interior and we have a winner!

The Hunter 40 has a new hull with the Henderson design signature bow hollow and a new hard chine that will stiffen her up with less heel.  The twin wheels provide exciting side rail steering and a larger, easy walk-thru cockpit.  A huge new fold down transom provides another deck and extends the cockpit.  And check out those flush mount deck hatches, windows and ports.  Down below we have two cabins and one head (2 head option and 3 cabin layout available).  The master cabin berth is center line and of course Hunter's new solid wood floors are spectacular.  Like all Hunters the interior is very bright but this boat has double side portholes in every cabin.  Best of all she retains the huge benefits of Hunter sailboats.  She is the easiest boat to sail amongst her competition with the small (easy to tack) jib and the end boom double ended mainsheet (easy to haul in, all sails controlled from the helm!)

Wish your Hunter could pay for itself? It can, with our smart and incredibly flexible charter income programs. Your boat can generate significant income with our established partners in captained charter, bareboat charter, fractional sailing club, or sailing school.  Unlike churn-and-burn charter programs, you have complete control over the amount of sailing time you enjoy.  Plus, our unique "North/South" program allows you to use your boat in New England in the summer and in Florida or the Caribbean in the winter.  You will appreciate year-round sailing opportunities and a healthy income, plus significant tax advantages.  We will be glad to supply details on any of these programs.

Cons

Build Quality: Some owners note that certain materials and fittings may not be as robust as those found on higher-end production boats.

Weight: The boat’s relatively heavy displacement can affect light wind performance compared to lighter, performance-oriented sailboats.

Keel Design: The shoal draft keel option, while useful for shallow waters, may compromise upwind performance.

Limited Cockpit Space: While comfortable, the cockpit may feel somewhat cramped for larger crews during more active sailing.

Resale Value: As with many production cruisers, resale values can be moderate, depending on market conditions.
