Factory Description
The underbody of the 33 mirrors Henderson’s other Hunter designs in the recent 41 and 44-foot models. Bringing the beam well aft to provide interior space, but not sacrificing performance has worked extremely well in his innovative designs. The deck is wide and workable without intrusions. The cockpit can hold a crowd under sail or at the dock, but is also set up to sail easily single handedly. Accommodations include a large, aft master stateroom with plenty of storage and headroom. The galley is complete with Corian® counters, a two-burner range, icebox and a deep, single basin stainless steel sink. Even the non-skid dishware is included. Entertaining or fortifying the crew is easy in a massive salon and guests will appreciate the privacy of the forward v-berth stateroom.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 2006 Hunter 33 is a well-regarded cruising sailboat that offers a blend of performance, comfort, and ease of handling. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros

Spacious Interior: The Hunter 33 features a well-designed interior with ample headroom and comfortable living spaces, making it ideal for longer voyages or weekend getaways.

Easy Handling: With a modern rigging system and self-tailing winches, the Hunter 33 is easy to sail single-handed or with a small crew, making it accessible for sailors of all experience levels.

Performance: The design of the hull allows for good sailing performance, with a balance between speed and stability, making it suitable for various wind conditions.

Storage: The boat offers plenty of storage options, both above and below deck, allowing for convenient stowage of gear and provisions.

Quality Build: Hunter is known for its quality construction, and the 2006 model is no exception, featuring a solid fiberglass hull and well-finished interiors.

Ventilation and Light: Large windows and hatches provide excellent natural light and ventilation, creating a bright and airy atmosphere below deck.

Cons

Limited Performance Under Heavy Winds: While the Hunter 33 performs well in moderate conditions, it may not handle heavy winds as effectively as some high-performance sailboats, which could be a consideration for experienced sailors.

Less Traditional Feel: Some purists may find the design and layout less traditional compared to older sailing yachts, which may affect the overall sailing experience.

Maintenance: Like any boat, the Hunter 33 requires regular maintenance, and certain areas can be more challenging to access for repairs.

Draft: With a draft of about 5 feet, the Hunter 33 may not be suitable for shallow waters, limiting access to some coastal areas or marinas.

Resale Value: Depending on the market, resale value may vary, and some owners may find it challenging to sell their boats at a price that reflects their investment.
