Hunter 49's are arguably the best cruising sailboat in her class. This is due to her superior build, terrific sailing characteristics, and the most interior volume with all the bells and whistles for the most advanced cruising couples. "Cool Change" is a clean, well-fitted example of a true bluewater cruiser.
As with all Hunters, there's never a shortage of sheer accommodation space. The 49 is a beamy boat. The bright and airy saloon will seat 8 for dinner. She has 3 excellent cabins and 6-foot, 9-inch headroom. Numerous fixed ports let in lots of light into the living space.
The nav station has a good-sized table and a luxurious bucket seat. The master cabin has plenty of headroom, a walk-around double bunk, two hanging lockers, several cabinets, two opening hatches, an ensuite head with a separate shower, and another flat-screen TV. Two identical guest cabins aft will sleep two couples comfortably but are slightly tighter than the master.
Numerous handholds in the saloon-two sturdy posts near the companionway and grabrails below the ports-provide uninterrupted brace points for navigating around the large cabin.
Lifting the floorboards reveals a welcome sight-an enormous deep sump with centrally mounted through-hulls. The boat's considerable depth below the floorboards also allows for low-down, sailing-performance-friendly mounting of the generator and engine on the centerline in the lowest part of the boat.

Maintenance: Like any sailboat, regular maintenance is essential, and some owners have noted that certain aspects of the build may require more attention over time.
