FREEDOM is a Huckins Atlantic 44 motor yacht with a distinctive down east look making it a classic yacht with outstanding custom construction done in the legendary Huckins Yard. Her blue hull, large white foredeck and 50ââ¬â¢4ââ¬ï¿½ LOA make an impressive and handsome vessel. She was designed for a cruising couple with an open main cabin and a single stateroom.
The heart of FREEDOM is an all-weather, heated and cooled bridge deck. When weather is appropriate, open the power operated windows and roll up or remove the isinglass enclosures. Forward to Starboard is the helm station with full instruments and controls. To Port the companionââ¬â¢s station has matching Garmin 5215 displays and audio system controls. Both stations have matching Stidd helm seats providing comfort and support while running. Her fly bridge is set back to allow space for hatches in the overhead at each station
Behind the bridge is a comfortable settee with a marbled granite adjustable table top for dining or lowering to berth level with the touch of a button. The same beautiful granite is featured throughout this impressive vessel in galley, head and make-up station counters. An ice maker and freezer are convenient to the living area at the rear of the helm stations.
Two (2) gates on either side of the vessel open to side decking and one gate accesses the aft cockpit. A transom door allows access to the integral teak swim platform for easy access to dock, water or tender.
Step down to the teak decking throughout her interior and enjoy the elegant and spacious saloon. To starboard is a leather sofa that, utilizing a power mechanism, converts into a double berth. Built-in end tables with secured lamps are at each end of the sofa. The well planned functional galley tucks to port. The double black drawer under-counter refrigeration and microwave blend into dark wood cabinetry and a two-burner induction cooktop to aft is hardly noticeable. A pounded copper sink with single lever faucet is a piece of art in itself. A variety of drawers and upper cabinets allow ample storage for this efficient galley. A Huckins designed table of exotic African wood easily adjusts from cocktail to dining height. The TV is stowed tucked into the cabinetry in the forward bulkhead and swings out for viewing.
The single stateroom has a queen island berth with built-in drawers beneath, two hanging lockers and vanity drawers and cabinets. There is a hatch over the berth which can be opened for fresh air. A TV fitted on the port side of the cabin is viewable from the berth. The roomy head compartment to starboard is separate from the port side walk-in shower with seat and frosted glass door.
The master and salon each have independent heating and air conditioning systems allowing for maximum environmental control. Throughout, adjustable overhead and table lamp LED lighting gives ambience to evenings after sunset or brightens rainy days.
Interior designer Michael Demanes crafted FREEDOMââ¬â¢S interior inspired by classic antique sailing yachts with the marbled granite, teak and holly soles, and raised-panel, satin-finished mahogany joinery.
FREEDOM is fitted with Hamilton Jet water jets which in recent years have gained popularity with Huckins's customers. Huckins carefully manages the vesselââ¬â¢s weight and balance resulting in FREEDOMââ¬â¢s 30,000-pound displacement and slim, 13-foot, 9-inch beam suit her form perfectly, and her performance and feel is uniquely Huckins-exhilarating! She rises evenly to plane, has a running angle of 3 to 3.5 degrees and turns are accomplished with a minimum of banking. With just 6 degrees of transom deadrise there is no need for tabs. She has a maximum speed of 30.2 knots at 3350 rpm. Cruising at 3000 rpm provides a speed of 22 knots and the Cummins electronic gauges indicated a fuel burn of 32.8 gallons per hour. Her 2-foot, 7-inch draft allows more access to the skinny waters of Florida and the Bahamas. Fussing with engine throttles and water jet buckets while maneuvering dockside can sometimes be a bit confusing. However, Hamilton Jetââ¬â¢s electronic control system minimizes the challenge. Simply move the mouse-like controller in the desired direction and the boat responds to your command. FREEDOMââ¬â¢s bow thruster can also be applied as needed, but it is not linked to the system.
