SELKIE is an exceptional example of the iconic Holland 32 iconic Down East lobster boat. Her traditional lines give SELKIE a very low profile, and her excellent hull shape ensures a comfortable ride. She has a traditional wooden framed pilothouse instead of the typical modernized molded pilothouse top seen on many other Holland 32's, and as a result the exterior profile is a real classic. The 315 hp Yanmar diesel enables her to cruise at 17 knots at an economical 4.5 gallons per hour, with a max speed of 25 knots. She has been thoroughly upgraded and meticulously maintained by her current owners. A classic island-hopping picnic boat or comfortable weekender, she has been fitted out with low maintenance in mind and is easily cleaned up -- you'll spend your time enjoying her, not as a slave to varnish. SELKIE turns heads whenever she enters a port.
Cockpit – Easy dinghy access via the swim platform that also supports the inflatable dinghy while underway. A full shade/rain awning extends from the pilot house to transom davits and is effective up to 10-15kts of wind speed. Two full size transom seat boxes slide out to access the grill, a folding table, safety gear, the spare anchor, etc. A large Yeti cooler is located under the port deck for easy access underway. The aft mounted engine box with full sound proofing acts as a serving table.
Pilot House – with drop-down screen or Strataglass panels for either bugs or rain, with two folding captain chairs and an opening hatch for added ventilation.
Cabin Interior - painted faired hull and bulkheads with varnished teak doors and trim molding. Screened ventilation is provided by 2 hatches, four opening portholes, and drop screens across the pilothouse. Expandable v-bunk with storage below and above the anchor locker.
Galley - Sink with pressure hot & cold water, Force 10 Gourmet Galley Range three-burner gimbaled propane stove with oven, and a large built-in Rtic cooler for food storage.
Head – Sink with a hot & cold handheld shower that feeds warm water to the swim platform shower, an electric toilet flushes to an 11 gal. plastic holding tank with an offshore discharge pump for remote cruising. A 120 volt outlet, towel bars, a large mirror and opening porthole for light and ventilation.
Water – pressurized 15 gal. cold & 4.2 gal. hot water capacity with an Isotemp Slim Square 16 Marine Water Heater. (w/ 3 portable 6 gal. jugs for extended cruising).
Solid fiberglass hull with cored fiberglass deck and cabin, fiberglassed wood pilot house, and self-bailing cockpit. SELKIE was rebuilt, re-powered, and sound proofed in 2003 by M. L. Pettegrew.
Color scheme: white hull with black bottom (Seahawk BIOCOP), sundown buff decks and platinum gray cockpit sole.
Originally built by Glenn Holland in 1985 and named SOPHIE, she was rebuilt in 2003 by M. L. Pettegrew, SW Harbor ME. They stiffened the hull and installed a new deck, engine box, fuel tanks, extensive soundproofing, windshield wipers; new engine, shaft, and drip-less shaft seal; all new sea cocks; new rudder-shaft cutters; new pilothouse top, window, and hatch; new sink and stove; electric toilet with holding tank; new anchor & rode; new bunk cushions; new batteries; and new spray rails.
In 2019 the cabin was completely refitted by Kittery Point Yacht Yard with a new galley, head with shower, v-bunks and transom swim platform with dinghy lift.
