EXPLORER II is one of the last Alden 58 Boothbay Explorer models that were built by the Hodgdon Brothers Yard in East Boothbay, Maine. Until recently she has been in the hands of her original owner. She has been lightly used in fresh water of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain except for one excursion to Florida in 1976. Much of the time she was in the water for 4-5 summer months and stored indoors in a heated building for the rest of the season. When the owner's plans changed she remained indoors from 1999 to 2008. During this time the boat hull, deck and spars were painted with Awlgrip and bottom barrier coated. The interior woodwork was redone. The basic structure and cosmetic condition are very good. Present owners have carefully gone over every inch of this boat to ensure it is in top shape and running condition. Explorer II is beautiful. She would be an ideal ocean cruiser or liveaboard.
