AIDA is a 33-foot keel/centerboard yawl designed and built by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. in 1926.
A recent restoration by Doug Hylan in Brooklin, ME sought to return her as close as possible to an “as built condition using the original Herreshoff techniques. Both the interior and exterior were restored and the work also included refinished spars, a new diesel, and new sails. This was the first major refurbishment of the boat since launch.
AIDA was owned for more than 40 years by Maynard Bray of WoodenBoat Magazine and his wife Anne. Maynard oversaw the project and published a book chronicling the boat, her owners, and the restoration.  AIDA, N.G.Herreshoff's Finest Shallow Draft Yawl,  by Maynard Bray.

Comments below are from Steve Corkery, who managed the last sale of AIDA:

The classic wooden boat field is small and most everyone involved with these boats knows or at least is knowledgeable about every one else.
When AIDA was sold the fact that the owner, seller, restorer, broker, and sail maker all had known each other, worked together, and mostly sailed together before was really fortunate. When and if you have this combination in your dealings you are one lucky person.

This is what I had when AIDA was last sold.. Now add to that one of N.G. Herreshoff's nicest sailing shoal draft boats ever designed and built, and you have a true historic masterpiece. This is AIDA, nothing more has to be said.
