Current owners purchased Liberty in November 0f 2017 and are the third owners and have loved and cared for her throughout their adventures.Ã?Â
The extensive use of teak throughout is certainly a welcome relief from the predominantly fiberglass interiors of more modern vessels. Her interior layout and appointments provide a ââ?¬Å?homeââ?¬ï¿½ unlike any newer boat you will see and she has ample room for individual offices while not encroaching on your living space plus, plenty of room for friends and family to gather aboard for fun on the water!
The ââ?¬Å?Libertyââ?¬ï¿½ has twin Detroit Diesel 871s, each has twin turbo chargers. These engines spin 48ââ?¬ï¿½ wheels (Propellers) which is a ton of power digging into the water to delicately and precisely maneuver her length into the tight quarters of the fuel dock or into a slip that has narrow fairways. Proper use of her props can overcome a multitude of adverse wind and current conditions. The current owners say they never missed side thrusters. Because of these handling characteristics, the current owner couple have been comfortable being the sole crew members maneuvering the Liberty when in port. Cruising speed is 10 knots at 1100 rpm which gives us a combined fuel burn of 9 gallons per hour.
The 1977 Hatteras is a heavy boat which makes it a dream to handle in heavy seas. Current owners have been caught in several squalls with winds gusting to 60 mph. The ââ?¬Å?Libertyââ?¬ï¿½ gave little heed to the adverse conditions.Ã? Ã?Â
You will see an upgraded galley with new countertops, a smooth glass cook top, and a new microwave. Carpet was replaced one year ago. Teak has been refinished. Newer front loading washer and drier were added a few months ago. A new bimini top was installed in June. The Liberty also comes with almost all of the original schematics and operator�s manuals of the onboard equipment.
