TO THE MOON is a 1973 Hatteras 53 Classic Motor Yacht that has served the past several owners as a wonderful home on the upper-most tidal portion of the Potomac River. Powered with reliable 8V71TI Detroit Diesel's, she is active during the boating season, regularly cruising the scenic Potomac with friends.
TO THE MOON features a 3 stateroom, 3 head layout. While the two guest cabins are the standard 53 Classic layout, the owner's stateroom features an updated custom queen size bed instead of the traditional twin bunk layout!

With over 300 built during nearly two decades of production, the Hatteras 53 is widely considered a classic yachting design. Few American motoryachts of her era came close to matching the Hatteras 53 in comfort and luxury, and none could match the quality construction long associated with the Hatteras brand. Heavily built on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a shallow keel, the Hatteras 53’s expansive three-stateroom interior was considered ideal in a 1970s/1980s motor yacht her size. Because the galley and dinette are down, the salon is surprisingly spacious with sufficient room aft of the lower helm to entertain a small-sized crowd. Note the wide side decks and deck access door to starboard at the helm. To The Moon features a custom athwartship walkaround queen bed in the master stateroom, a great improvement from the twin bunk models of this era. Powered with GM 435hp 8V71TI diesels.
The Galley is located a few steps down from the Lower helm and features a starboard side dinette. Lot of room and natural light!
