A One-of-a-Kind Classic
The interior has been completely transformed from a no nonsense fishing machine to a cruising fishing machine with updated creature comforts. The major change in the main saloon was the fiberglassing in of the forward windows. Extreme care was taken to use superb craftsmanship and materials selected specifically for this yacht. The wood panels that were hand selected are truly beautiful The result is a sophisticated interior that bears little resemblance to a standard 1973 Hatteras.
Above deck, the yacht features a custom flybridge and custom cockpit, creating an exceptional platform for fishing, entertaining, cruising, or simply enjoying time on the water. At the time the bridge was also air conditioned but is no longer all plumbing and venting etc are still in place As ANCHORS AWAY is truly designed to raise fish she recieved new outriggers, a central rigger and a ton of rod holders including a rocket launcher were also installed along with custom live well, custom fish box and tackle center .
Hinckley basically gutted the entire vessel prior to commencing the upgrades all new wiring, plumbing, and machinery The final touch was the extraordinary paint job ANCHORS AWAY presents very well and is a true head turner in any marina
The Hatteras Advantage
Built during the era when Hatteras established its reputation for exceptionally strong construction and offshore capability, this 36 Sportfish provides something increasingly difficult to find-a classic fiberglass sportfish with the character and construction of a vintage Hatteras, combined with a modernized interior and updated systems.
This is not a typical 1973 Hatteras.
It is a fully customized and extensively rebuilt yacht, representing hundreds of thousands of dollars and years of work that would be extremely difficult and expensive to duplicate today.

As one enters the main saloon of ANCHORS AWAY through the custom aft door, the very first impression is the fine hand crafted HINCKLEY interior. The typial glass windows that spread across the entire forward end of other Vintage HATTERAS sportfish of this era are gone. In their place are hand selected matched teak panelling that are truly magnificent.
The larrge side windows, large cockpit aftwindiw and the custom glass door from the cokpit provide very nice natural lighting and great views of the outside activity. To starboard and located under the large aft facing window is a custom teak storage locker with drawers. There is wiring etc in place for a tv. Across to port there is another dedicated storage locker. 2 free standing barrel chairs are located both starboard and to port.
Forward on the starboard side ANCHORS AWAY has a completely renovated electrical panel. Proceeding firwar abd down 3 steps one is in the HINCKLEY designed galley to starboard and spacious head to port complete with a very large stand alone shower stall.
The galley on ANCHORS AWAY has serious dedicated storage, refrigeration, stainless steel sink, Corian countertops and a microwave. There is a spot that one might re-intall a three burner cook top with oven. Teak and holly sole is another HINCKLEY touch.
All the way forward is a vee berth that does create a rather large sleeping area. Hanging locker, storage cabinets and oiver head hatch makes this a very comfy stateroom. The access to ANCHORS AWAY'S chain locker is located all the way forwardl contribute to the living capabilities of this stateroom.
Back on deck, there are back down controls located to starboard over the bait prep area. Definitely not to be found on your typical HATTERAS sportfish of this vintage To port is a very sturdy HINCKLEY designed stairs with hand rails leading up to the bridge. The addition of a live bait well and an insulated fish box originally designed by HINCKLEY to have an ice chipper, Rupp outriggers, central rigger plus rocket launcher makes ANCHORS AWAY a serious fishing machine.
The visbility from the HINCKLEY designed flybridge is exceptiional. The helm looks like the flight deck of a Boeing super 737 with all controls, ship's monitoing systems and electronics at ones finger tips. Long bench seats are located to port and starboard with a centrally located helm seat. Lots of space for observers of the fishing activities in the cockpit or of the cruising vistas Something for everyone to enjoy while aboard ANCHORS AWAY.
