Acadia is a great boat. She has been outfitted to take full advantage of coastal and offshore cruising opportunities. By design, she is set up for extended autonomy from docks with solar power and additional water. She is equipped with upgraded equipment above the standard factory level that makes her shine above her sisterships.
Her recent sails, canvas, and standing rigging will push out replacement schedules for many years and Acadia comes with loads of spare equipment, all of which will save her next owners tens of thousands of dollars in the future.
The Judel/Vrolijk-designed Hanse 415 strikes an ideal balance of speed and comfort. Her self-tacking jib with all lines led aft to dual helms make her a pleasure to sail single-handed while guests relax and enjoy the sail. Powered by a Volvo D2-55F diesel with a folding three-blade prop, motoring is smooth and reliable. Below decks offers a roomy Salon with double leaf folding dining table and leather sofas, a large open galley, two spacious sleeping cabins (each sleeping 2, with an additional 2 single berths in the Salon), a single head with shower, and a dedicated storage room.
Acadia has been regularly serviced, very well maintained, and she has many upgrades and new equipment. Acadia is a must see, turnkey vessel ready to sail.

Vessel Walkthrough
The cockpit is spacious and well-protected, with a windowed dodger and bimini with skylights — both new in 2022. Twin wheels allow easy passage fore and aft, centered around a large folding teak table, comfortably seating six with room to spare. Two large lazarettes provide ample stowage for dock lines, fenders, and gear. Wide side decks are easy to navigate, with double lifelines running the full perimeter and handholds on the dodger. Below decks, the spaces are bright and airy, with generous hatches and windows throughout. The salon features a large double leaf table in the center, and a wrap-around leather sofa on the starboard side (turning into berth 5). To Port are two leather seats with an integrated nav table in the center (lowerable to become a sofa - or 6th berth). The head is conveniently located at the bottom of the stairs to port. The large galley is to starboard, with a 3 burner stove w/oven, double sink, and two spacious refrigerators. The interior is finished in American Cherry cabinetry with a rich, dark toned, cabin sole and cream Portofino leather upholstery. The interior lighting is thoughtfully designed and provides ample illumination throughout the cabins. Reading lights are conveniently located next to the main salon sofas, nav table, and in each sleeping cabin on port and starboard. For sailing and living, Acadia is a remarkably well designed boat.
Forward Cabin
The forward cabin features a large V-berth queen with a deluxe mattress and slatted base for ventilation. Two large and two small opening hatches, all with screens and sun shades, provide ventilation and lots of light when you want it. Storage is generous: two hanging lockers, additional cabinets, and hull-side shelves. A desk serves double duty as a vanity or laptop workspace, and a starboard seat adds a comfortable spot for getting ready or winding down.
- Large V-Berth With Deluxe Mattress And Slatted Base
- (2) Hanging Lockers & Storage Cabinets
- Hull-Side Shelves
- (2) Fixed Hull Ports, (2) Large Opening Hatches, (2) Small Opening Hatches

Port Aft Cabin
The guest cabin is Port side aft and offers a large double berth and good headroom, a double hanging locker, two opening hatches for ventilation, and a fixed port for views over the water.
Starboard Aft Storage Cabin
A unique feature of Acadia is the oversized storage cabin aft of the galley, accessible from inside through a door on the aft bulkhead in the Galley, or from the cockpit underneath the starboard seat lazerette. The space is neatly organized with shelving and bulk storage areas. This storage locker is incredibly useful, stowing, amongst other things: fenders, tools, cleaning supplies, the code zero sail and extra lines.
Head
The single head is spacious, with a forward stall shower enclosed by a clear acrylic door that keeps the space bright and open. The toilet is a Jabsco freshwater electric head (new 2022). It has good storage throughout, with a mirrored medicine cabinet, porcelain sink, opening port, and shower with upgraded sump pump.
Galley
The two-cabin model benefits from an extra-large galley with an L-shaped counter, where two people can work together comfortably. There are two fridges: a top-and-side-loading Vitrifrigo/Isotherm refrigerator/freezer, and a second front-loading drawer-style refrigerator aft; double SS sinks; a Force 10 3-burner stove with oven. A hull window and opening deckhouse port provide ventilation and water views. Ample storage throughout.
- Vitrifrigo/Isotherm Refrigerator/Freezer (Top And Side Loading)
- Additional Front-Loading Drawer Refrigerator — 30 Ltr
- Force 10 Three-Burner Stove And Oven With (2) Propane Tanks
Hull
The Judel/Vrolijk design is performance-oriented, delivering great handling and solid speed. The long waterline and beam carried well aft provide form stability on a reach while maximizing volume in the aft cabin and storage area. The fold-down transom is ideally positioned for boarding from a dock stern-to, swimming, or dinghy access.
The teak rub-rail with SS cap runs the full length of the hull — a practical and valuable feature for aiding against dock and pilings scrapes. Construction is solid throughout: Isophthalic gelcoat over a vinylester first layer, balsa sandwich above the waterline, and bulkheads laminated to the hull. White hull with dark grey double waterlines, SS bow strip.
Keel
Acadia's T-speed keel places the majority of ballast low and slightly forward, improving both stability and fore-and-aft trim. At 6'11" draft, she tracks well without limiting access to shallower harbors. Stainless steel keel bolts for strength and durability.
Deck
Clean and uncluttered, with comfortable non-skid throughout. Hanse's built-in bulwark along the side decks provides a secure footing and keeps stanchion bases off the deck, reducing leak points. Multiple opening hatches bring in abundant light and fresh air below.

Cockpit
The Hanse 415 cockpit is wide and comfortable, with easy passage around the cockpit table and well-designed backrests and seating. Twin wheels position the helmsperson outboard for excellent visibility of the sails and other boats, while keeping the transom passage clear. Sightlines are broad and clear, with skylights in the bimini. The connected dodger and bimini provide excellent protection from spray, wind, sun, and rain. Solar panels are mounted on the stern arch, elevated and out of sightlines.

Sails & Rigging
The sail plan has been maximized for efficiency and ease of handling. With all lines led aft to the helm, Acadia is easy to single-hand (including the reefing line, easily secured single-handedly in minutes). There is plenty of sail area, making her an exciting and capable performer. The roller-furling headsail on a self-tacking track further enhances shorthanded sailing, and the mainsail deploys and drops easily into the lazy bag and lazy jacks combination. All these features mean you are only minutes from dock to sailing with minimal effort.

Vessel History
This Hanse 415 was purchased new in 2017 by a Dutch couple who took part in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). The second owners installed more solar which made their power usage independent at sea, and they sailed the Caribbean, the Eastern Seaboard to Nova Scotia and back. The current owner of Acadia uses the vessel for light cruising in New England with his family.
