All interior joinery work is select-grade solid teak. Due to the traditional nature of a Hans Christian yacht, a large amount of custom bronze fittings are used, all manufactured by the builder. Bulkheads and interior walls of all cabins and lockers are planked with solid teak. The countertop in the head is marble. Every interior detail has been well thought out to give her owners the best in a completely seaworthy and beautiful vessel. There are twelve bronze opening ports, a forward hatch over the shower area in the bow and a large hatch in the salon area. In addition, there are six stainless-steel, cowl deck vents. The forward staterooms are midship, to the port side. It is a large queenside berth with ample storage underneath. To the starboard side is a huge hanging locker. The salon is L-shaped and dominated by a large, gorgeous teak table amidships. The single settee to the starboard side pulls out to make a wide single berth if need be and a twelve-volt fan is mounted above each berth. A U-shaped galley with a large centreline. stainless steel sink and brass fixtures for hot and cold running water, using a double hot water system with a 110-volt or engine water heating system. A pressure water system and foot pump supply the galley with water. There is a counter refrigerator, a gimbal propane Force 10 stove with 3 burners and an oven. A built-in waste bin is practical and concealed under the sink.
The boat was commissioned in 1981 by Hans Christian Yachts, Belgium The cost new on this date was $375,000 U.S. During its life, the Black Pearl has had various upgrades, including a second Yammer engine. The hull is a female mold, handled fibreglass, with mat and roving cloth, with gelcoat exterior finish. West System seal-coated hull seals the bottom, covered by five coats of epoxy primer barrier coat. There is no sign of any blistering, softness or delamination and the anti-fouling paint is in good condition. Three coats of AWL Grip and three coats of AWL Grip Black primer spray above the water line, and three coats of AWL Grit Blacktop coat, primer, and top coat on the deck and coach roof.
The teak overlay on deck is in excellent condition. In the cockpit is located a large a pedestal helm and an emergency tiller. A Monitor wind vane is an efficient, non-energy-consuming steering aide. There is also a NAV COM autopilot connected to the rudder post. The shaft is stainless steel, 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The propeller is fixed, three-bladed bronze. (18 inches.) Deck hardware is solid bronze. Stainless steel bow and stern rails, double lifelines with S/S stanchions. Through hulls and valves are all bronze. Hall and cabin ventilation consists of large cabin top hatches, six large S/S Dorade vents, twelve opening portholes and companionway. The boat has two one-hundred watt solar panels mounted on the dodger roof, a Bimini top and enclosure. A VHF interior is inside, and a handheld VHF is included. Two 12-volt bilge pumps are easily accessible, and a manual bilge pump operates at the helm. The The speeder lights are LED. There is a mast ladder and a bosun chair. Heavy-duty stainless steel side stanchions, life-lines, and a man-overboard pole. Three Halcyon fire extinguishers.
