The ALEGRIA is a superb example of the HALLBERG-RASSY 41 series that was produced from 1975 through 1981. A total of 105 examples were produced of this model by this well-regarded Swedish Manufacturer. Her quality of build & finish, efficient center-cockpit layout, great performance and ease-of-handling with the preferred ketch / cutter rig all combined to make the HR 41 the "go to" boat in this size range for those sailors who were .. or are now .. planning some "offshore" voyaging.

The ALEGRIA has been the beneficiary of a number of overall refits as major investments were made in the late 1990's, in 2001, in 2006 and most recently in the 2009-2010 timeframes. The teak decks were removed in the late 1990's, the original Volvo diesel was replaced in 2001 with a YANMAR 62 HP upgrade, the standing rigging & running rigging have all been redone, her topsides were refinished with an AWLGRIP Dark Green, the winches were replaced by LEWMAR units, the Main & Mizzen are DOYLE Stack-Pack's, she's had a full "bottom job" with epoxy barrier coating .. and the Listing "Full Specifications" will provide more details.

The ALEGRIA is offered for brokerage sail as her Owners have completed their dream of cruising down to the Bahamas & back to New England a number of times since their purchase in 2010. Complete with a wind generator, solar panel array, dinghy davit system, upgrades for "just about everything" .. the ALEGRIA is a "turn-key" classic cruising yacht with a pedigree that represents a rare opportunity for any Buyer who seriously-considering a yacht with these "features & benefits" and is capable of extended "Blue Water" work as well.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1977 Hallberg Rassy 41 Ketch is a classic bluewater cruiser known for its solid construction and traditional design. Here are some of the key pros and cons of this model:

Pros

Robust Build Quality: Hallberg Rassy yachts are renowned for their sturdy, hand-laid fiberglass hulls and excellent craftsmanship, making the 41 Ketch highly durable and seaworthy.

Comfortable and Spacious Interior: The 41 Ketch offers a well-thought-out layout with ample living space, including a cozy saloon, practical galley, and comfortable sleeping quarters suitable for extended cruising.

Ketch Rig Versatility: The ketch rig provides flexible sail plan options, making it easier to balance the boat and handle sails in various wind conditions, especially for short-handed crews.

Excellent Seakeeping: With a moderate displacement and full keel design, the boat offers a stable and comfortable ride in rough seas, ideal for long offshore passages.

Classic Aesthetics: The timeless design and teak woodwork appeal to sailors who appreciate traditional styling combined with reliable performance.

Cons

Older Systems and Equipment: Being a 1977 model, many onboard systems such as engines, electronics, and plumbing may require upgrades or maintenance to meet modern standards.

Weight and Performance: The relatively heavy displacement and full keel mean the boat is not as fast or agile as more modern designs, particularly in light wind conditions.

Maintenance of Woodwork: The extensive use of teak and other wood materials, while beautiful, demands regular upkeep to prevent wear and maintain appearance.

Limited Tank Capacities: Compared to contemporary cruisers, the water and fuel tank sizes may be smaller, which could limit extended autonomy without frequent resupply.

Sail Handling Complexity: The ketch rig, while versatile, involves managing more sails and rigging compared to simpler sloop rigs, potentially increasing workload.

Perfect for experienced voyagers or couples looking to embark on long-distance offshore passages, this yacht offers exceptional comfort, reliability, and seaworthiness.
