RYLIE is a solidly built yacht commissioned and originally built for the CSY charter fleet.  She is airy and spacious with great headroom throughout.  She makes a great Caribbean live aboard, or alternatively a blue water cruiser, these boats have crossed the Atlantic several times proving there capability. Since her short life in the CSY fleet, the owners have maintained her well with recent upgrades and refits, Rylie has been fitted out to be self-sufficient and for world cruising.  Capable of sleeping (8), (6) is very comfortable.  The Walkover, center cockpit design results in a huge engine room with walk around facility.  Shelving in the engine room provides more than adequate storage space for tools and spares which would otherwise need to be stored elsewhere on the yacht.  The hub of the yacht, the engine room is often commented upon and awed by others.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 1987 Gulfstar CSY is a classic cruising sailboat known for its sturdy construction and comfortable accommodations. Here’s a breakdown of its pros and cons:

Pros

Solid Build Quality: Gulfstar yachts from this era are known for their robust fiberglass construction, providing durability and long-term reliability.

Spacious Interior: The CSY offers a roomy cabin layout with ample headroom, making extended cruising comfortable for families or small groups.

Stable and Seaworthy: With a full keel and moderate displacement, the boat handles well in a variety of sea conditions, offering good stability and a smooth ride.

Traditional Styling: The design features classic lines and a timeless aesthetic that appeals to sailors who appreciate vintage charm.

Good Storage: Plenty of storage space below deck for provisions and cruising gear, ideal for long passages.

Cons

Moderate Performance: The heavier build and full keel design mean the boat is not as fast or agile as more modern, lighter sailboats.

Older Systems: Being a 1987 model, some mechanical and electrical systems may require updating or maintenance to meet current standards.

Limited Sail Plan: The rigging and sail area are designed for ease and safety rather than high performance, which may not satisfy sailors seeking a more spirited sailing experience.

Maintenance Needs: As with many older boats, upkeep can be time-consuming and potentially costly, especially if previous owners have deferred maintenance.

Less Modern Amenities: Compared to newer models, the 1987 Gulfstar CSY might lack some contemporary conveniences and design innovations.
