Some boats simply look right the moment you see them, and this 2018 Grand Golden Line G500 is one of them. Dressed in a sleek black hull with charcoal tubes and a crisp white accent band, she pairs the refined styling of Grand's premium Golden Line series with a genuinely capable, fully sorted specification. Powered by a Yamaha VMAX SHO 115 with just 190 hours, set up for fishing with Cannon downriggers and a Garmin CHIRP unit, and carefully garage stored, she arrives on her own 5 Star LoadRite trailer ready for cottage runs, early-morning trolling and long summer afternoons on the lake.
At 4.95 m (16' 3") overall with a 2.30 m (7' 7") beam, the G500 is sized to feel generous on board yet remain easy to tow, launch and store. Her fiberglass deep-V hull has a fine entry forward, with 21 degrees of deadrise amidships and 18 degrees aft, and the owner notes that she rides smoothly in rough water and feels very safe and capable. Five-chamber tubes of roughly 50 cm (20") in diameter add buoyancy, stability and a reassuring sense of security, while a dry weight of approximately 435 kg (957 lb) keeps her light behind the tow vehicle. With a factory load capacity of 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) and a factory rating of nine persons, there is ample room for family and friends.
Power comes from a 2018 Yamaha VMAX SHO 115 four-stroke, the Super High Output version of Yamaha's 115, fitted with a stainless steel propeller. At 115 hp she carries the maximum power Grand rates for the G500, and with only 190 hours the engine has plenty of life ahead. A Tohatsu 6 hp Sail kicker is mounted alongside on the transom, ideal for slow trolling and a welcome measure of redundancy. Fuel is carried in an internal tank of approximately 80 L (21 US gal).
The centre console is neatly laid out and well protected behind a tinted wraparound windscreen. At its heart is a Garmin echoMAP SV chartplotter and fishfinder with CHIRP sonar, loaded with Canadian charts. Yamaha digital gauges display speed, fuel and engine data, a Ritchie compass sits atop the dash, and a Kenwood marine stereo controls the four-speaker sound system, including a pair of speakers mounted on the stainless arch. A bank of rocker switches, a 12V accessory outlet, a padded stainless steering wheel and a stainless grab rail across the console front complete a helm that is both practical and handsome.
Aboard, grey upholstery and light synthetic teak-look decking give the cockpit a clean, upscale feel. The helm seat, with its embossed Grand backrest, is framed by a polished stainless arch, and a cushioned seat with backrest sits ahead of the console. Forward, the bow is finished with a large sun pad, stainless cupholders and a bow locker, while stainless grab rails along the tubes offer secure handholds underway. At the stern, the tube ends are fitted with synthetic teak-look pads, and a transom step makes boarding from the water easy.
For anglers, she is ready to fish. The boat is set up for Cannon downriggers, and the downriggers stow neatly in her generous interior storage along with lines and gear, where the battery is also secured. Combined with the Garmin CHIRP sonar and the Tohatsu kicker for controlled trolling speeds, she makes a very capable platform for Lake Simcoe and the surrounding waters.
She has been garage stored, sheltered from the elements, and she comes with a fitted factory cover in light grey for storage (not intended for trailering).
She travels on a galvanized, single-axle 5 Star LoadRite trailer fitted with new tires, spare bearing kits, a winch stand and a wheeled tongue jack. Its storage tongue shortens the overall length when parked, so boat and trailer fit in a standard-length garage.
For the buyer who wants a premium RIB with top-rated power, modest hours, fishing gear already aboard and the peace of mind that comes with careful indoor storage, this Golden Line G500 is a rare and appealing find. Located in Shanty Bay, Ontario, on Lake Simcoe. Showings by appointment.
