'COGNAC' is a beautiful classic GRAND BANKS 36 TRAWLER and being hull # 137, was the last hull actually built and delivered from Hong Kong in 1970. She was recently hauled for service and received NEW BOTTOM PAINT, July 2009.

The current owner cruised 'COGNAC' down from Wisconsin ten years ago and has maintained her very well. The twin Ford Lehman 120s have been professionally maintained, the fuel tanks and holding tank have been recently replaced and the vessel looks great.

Our owner is ready to pass the baton to someone else who will enjoy the ownership of a GRAND BANKS 36 CLASSIC as much as she has, and is looking for an offer. The 36 CLASSIC is an IDEAL LIVE-ABOARD and cruiser, ready to move aboard.

Pros

Classic Styling: The Grand Banks 36 features a traditional trawler profile with beautiful lines and teak woodwork, appealing to those who appreciate vintage aesthetics.

Solid Construction: Built with high-quality materials and craftsmanship, the hull and superstructure are known for durability and seaworthiness.

Spacious Interior: Despite its size, the layout efficiently maximizes living space, offering comfortable accommodations including a full galley, salon, and sleeping quarters.

Fuel Efficiency: Designed for long-range cruising at moderate speeds, it offers economical fuel consumption compared to faster boats.

Good Stability: The displacement hull provides excellent stability and a smooth ride in various sea conditions.

Proven Design: The Grand Banks 36 Classic has a strong reputation and a loyal following, with many examples still in service decades later.

Cons

Maintenance Intensive: The extensive use of teak and older systems require regular upkeep to maintain the boat's condition and appearance.

Slower Speed: As a displacement trawler, it is not designed for speed and typically cruises around 7-9 knots, which may not suit those seeking faster transit.

Limited Modern Amenities: Being a vintage model, it may lack some of the modern conveniences and technology found on newer vessels, unless updated by the owner.

Size Constraints: While spacious for its size, the 36-foot length may feel limited for larger groups or extended liveaboard use.

Engine Access: Some owners find that engine maintenance can be more challenging due to the engine room layout typical of this design era.
