Overview

The Glacier Bay Canyon Runner 2665 is a robust offshore fishing vessel renowned for its performance and durability. It has earned distinction by winning the Bermuda Challenge and serving as a sister boat for the Hawaii to Midway Island run, underscoring its offshore capabilities. Designed with solid construction and practical features, the Canyon Runner 2665 offers a blend of speed, comfort, and utility tailored for serious anglers.

Exterior Design and Deck Layout

The Canyon Runner 2665 features a beefy center console design with dual-density upholstery and an ISO-MPG gel coat finish that enhances longevity and comfort. Safety is emphasized through foam-filled double bottoms, providing added security at sea. The bow area is fully surrounded by protective railings and includes an optional bow pulpit with a roller and a Horizon 400 windlass. A large line and anchor locker takes advantage of the deep cat hull, while the raised forward deck offers excellent visibility for spotting fish. A small bench forward of the helm provides a comfortable ride, complemented by multiple storage lockers including a shallow forward locker and a deep drainable locker. Dual insulated fish sole lockers with pumps flank the helm, and the starboard locker is rigged for rod storage. The helm area is well-equipped with a three-spoke stainless steel wheel featuring a speed knob and tilt hydraulic steering, rocker switches with breakers, and ample gauge space. A frameless plexiglass windshield surrounds the helm, topped by an optional T-top with Taco Grand Slam outriggers. The leaning post seat includes sturdy grab bars for safety offshore, and the standard 35-gallon bait tank has clear lids and windows for easy monitoring.

Interior and Functional Spaces

Beneath the helm, the compartment serves multiple purposes. It houses a standard port-a-potty and offers storage shelves with electrical access points, illuminated by a two-color red and white light. The spacious aft deck is designed for fishing activities, featuring wide gunnel walls equipped with rod holders and line haulers. Below deck storage includes rod racks and ample room for gear. The port aft wall integrates a shower wand and small sink, with battery storage access panels nearby. On the starboard side, a bait prep station is equipped with a knife, hook, and tool organizer, along with multiple tackle box storage compartments and additional battery access. The swim platform includes a battery management center and a walk-through with access to steering gear. An optional swim platform with high rails and a concealed three-step boarding ladder enhances boarding safety and convenience.

Dimensions and Specifications

The Canyon Runner 2665 measures 26 feet 1 inch in length overall with a beam width of 8 feet 9 inches. It draws only 18 inches of water and carries 180 gallons of fuel. The vessel has a dry weight of 4,200 pounds and is rated for twin outboard engines up to 150 horsepower each.

Performance and Handling

Tested in calm waters off Washington State, the Canyon Runner 2665 demonstrated excellent handling and responsiveness. It planes quickly, achieving plane in 1.7 seconds and accelerating to 30 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. The cruising speed is approximately 20 miles per hour at 3,000 RPM, providing an impressive range of 498 miles on a full tank. The maximum recorded speed during testing was 42.6 miles per hour at 5,900 RPM. The boat handles tight turns smoothly and manages challenging currents with ease, confirming its suitability for offshore fishing conditions.

Conclusion

The Glacier Bay Canyon Runner 2665 is a well-rounded offshore fishing boat that combines solid construction, thoughtful design, and strong performance. Its extensive storage, safety features, and comfortable ride make it a practical choice for anglers seeking a reliable vessel for offshore excursions.
