Deck Arrangement
The Erin X Class features a 9' long self-draining cockpit protected by the deckhouse and side deck coaming three foot high. A 9' long deckhouse with 360-degree visibility for the helmsman and a comfortable 76 inches of headroom leading down to a 9' long forward cuddy with sufficient sitting headroom. An 18' mast capable of carrying sufficient sail for off the wind sailing can be fitted forward of deckhouse.
Construction
Welded aluminum construction using 5086 aluminum side plates 3/16", bottom plates 1/4", deckhouse is fully welded using 3/16" 5086.
Scantlings and plating designed to meet requirements of the American Bureau of Shipping.
Aluminum construction has advantage of being ecologically friendly together with a high strength to weight ratio which is ideal in giving a vessel both excellent fuel efficiency and minimal wave making. Boat can have an open plan or complete with built-in furniture.
