Additional Details

The H260 offers aft deck and in-floor compartments large enough for skis and wakeboards. The bow houses storage behind the backrest and beneath both seats, along with an anchor locker with hidden ladder. The U-shaped cockpit seat also conceals generous storage, and the sundeck pads lift to reveal even more space for fun-in-the-sun gear. For easy access at service time, the engine hatch has gas assisted lifts. And at the swim platform, Four Winns includes its signature angled, hidden deep-reach ladder with broad step pads for the swimmer?s comfort. While the H260 helm is highly functional, it is also extremely attractive. The helm with top-stitched, hand-fitted vinyl on its shroud perfectly frames the sophisticated instrument panel. Surrounding the controls is a backdrop of beautifully polished wood grain. The gauges are accented with polished raised bezels that add another stylish element to the helm. The striking tri-spoke tilt steering wheel is framed by controls that are both logically arranged, and very reliable. Rotary switches, toggle-style controls and push-button activators have been specifically chosen to best handle the task they perform. Now entertainment is at the driver?s fingertips, with the Sony stereo conveniently located to the right of the steering wheel. The Faria gauges include a tachometer with hour meter, fuel gauge, oil pressure, speedometer, temperature, trim, and volt meter. A compass is standard to help guide your way. The plastic lenses in these gauges are specially coated to resist fogging and condensation. A depth sounder designed to alert boaters of shallow water is also built into the H260?s helm. Plus, the Stable-Vee hull design ensures a smooth, comfortable ride across the full range of RPMs. An iPod/MP3 port and a 12 VDC receptacle are at the helm, making it easy to enjoy a music collection or charge a cell phone. The port is located in a storage cubby lined with non-skid material that minimizes sliding and jostling of electronic devices.

The H260 Horizon features a canvas bimini top with stainless steel hardware, and as an option a hinging stainless steel arch can be selected, ideal for traveling in low clearance areas and great for simple maintenance.

Customers can choose from many engine choices: Volvo Penta choices range from 5.7 Gi/DP 300 hp to 8.1 Gi/DP 375 hp; or MerCruiser power from 350 MPI/Bravo III 300 hp to 496 MG/Bravo III DTS 375 hp.

Four Winns is one of the only boat manufacturers in North America to manufacture its own trailers. The Sure-Load tandem axle trailer is custom matched to the finish of the H260, and it features the swing-away tongue design for easy storage. The carpeted bunks of the trailer cradle the boat?s running surface, gliding on and off with minimal effort. Tops in safety, this Four Winns trailer is equipped with brakes, enhanced LED lights and built-in ratchet straps. Ideal for saltwater use and long-hauls, the galvanized trailer with GatorHyde is available for even greater durability; and a Turbo Lube system with oil bath bearings facilitates quick and easy visual oil inspections.

As if the H260 could be more striking, the Frenzy package brings it up another notch. Available on the H260, Frenzy reinvents the boat with an arch or tower, over-the-top graphic treatment, and a swim platform mat. The extreme sports set will love all of the above. The graphics color is carried throughout the interior with accent piping on the vinyl, custom-matched canvas, and trailer.

Four Winns H260: BoatTEST Review

Reviewed by Jeff Hammond

Overview

The Four Winds H260 is a 26-foot family bow rider that emphasizes sporty performance combined with practical features. It incorporates a unique hull design called the Stable V-Hull, which is essentially a stepped hull with the step positioned aft near the stern quarters rather than midships. This design features a teardrop cross section, a curved leading edge toward the keel, and a pronounced hook on the reverse chine, all intended to enhance performance, improve turning ability, and reduce horsepower requirements. The extended running surface beyond the transom further aids in quicker planing and lower planing speeds.

Power and Performance

The H260 measures 26 feet 6 inches in length overall, with a beam of 8 feet 5 inches and a draft of 35 inches. The test boat weighed approximately 5,935 pounds including fuel and two passengers. Powered by a base Volvo Penta V8 350 engine with a DP outdrive and FH4 prop, the boat achieved a top speed of 51 miles per hour at 5,960 RPM, consuming 28.5 gallons per hour and yielding a full fuel range of 113 miles. At a more economical cruising speed of 27.8 miles per hour and 3,500 RPM, fuel consumption dropped to 8.4 gallons per hour, extending the range to 209 miles. Acceleration was strong, with a time to plane of 2.8 seconds, reaching 20 miles per hour in 5 seconds and 30 miles per hour in 7 seconds. Handling was notably responsive, with excellent tracking and no chine walk or prop ventilation, even during aggressive turns. The hull’s design allowed the boat to ride smoothly over wakes, maintaining a dry cockpit with minimal spray.

Operational Features and Helm

The engine compartment is thoughtfully designed with storage atop the engine to utilize heat for drying and ease of access. The boat accommodates engines between 350 and 380 horsepower from Merc or Volvo Penta, with a clean, light-colored compartment that is easy to maintain. The battery switch is conveniently located inside the compartment. The helm features a stitched brow in a dark color to reduce glare, complemented by a carbon fiber textured panel that is soft to the touch. Controls include a leather-wrapped, tilt-adjustable three-spoke wheel, a digital engine display with selectable readouts, and switches mounted on billet aluminum bases. The digital engine control offers single-button start-stop and cruise assist. Additional conveniences include a footrest doubling as a drink holder with MP3 and 12-volt ports, a standard digital depth gauge, and courtesy lighting. The bow includes an anchor locker with integrated anchor keepers and a pull-up cleat, with optional docking lights enhancing nighttime operation.

Water Sports and Deck Features

The transom is equipped for water sports with a full-beam swim platform extending 29 inches and positioned just 3 inches above the waterline for easy reboarding. The platform features a non-skid surface and a central step that serves as a footrest when seated on the adjacent sun pad. The sun pad itself measures 7 feet 1 inch by 45 inches deep, with a starboard section that lifts to form a chaise lounge and reveal a walkthrough to the cockpit. A fresh water shower is conveniently located in this area. The cockpit includes L-shaped seating with swiveling operator and observer seats that create an open social space, and ample storage beneath all seats. An optional collapsible bimini top with stainless steel hardware provides sun protection. At the bow, two deep contoured seats feature adjustable headrests and flip-up armrests, enhancing comfort for passengers.

Conclusion

The Four Winds H260 impresses with its combination of sporty styling, innovative hull design, and practical family-friendly features. The Stable V-Hull delivers excellent handling, responsive turning, and efficient performance with relatively modest horsepower. The boat’s thoughtful operational details, comfortable interior, and well-equipped water sports amenities make it a versatile choice for both recreational cruising and active boating. Overall, the H260 stands out as a well-executed bow rider that balances performance and comfort effectively.

Size and Maneuverability: While it offers spaciousness, the larger size of the H260 can make it more challenging to maneuver in tight spaces or when docking compared to smaller models.

Limited Cabin Space: The H260 is primarily designed as a bowrider, so it lacks a full cabin or overnight accommodations. This might not be ideal for those looking for extended cruising capabilities with sleeping facilities.

Maintenance: Like any watercraft, regular maintenance is essential to keep the H260 running smoothly. Some owners may find upkeep to be more involved or costly compared to smaller boats.
