2010 FP LIPARI 41 Owner's Version
Never chartered. Extensive equipment. Priced to move.
ICW FRIENDLY
This gorgeous Lipari came across the Atlantic as part of the ARC. She has never been in charter. Once in the US, her owner set about bringing her to American standards: rewired to ABYC, added a Lithionics lithium house bank, solar, Colligo Dyneema-Dux standing rigging, Northern Lights generator, and a Spectra watermaker.
What stands out going through the boat is her extensive inventory of spares. Two spare Volvo alternators, a spare inverter, the original fixed props, extra watermaker filters, three spare anchors, and a full ship's technical library. She has been outfitted by someone who planned on being a long way from a chandlery.
Notable highlights include:
- Never in charter, privately owned, ARC transatlantic passage under her own sail
- Rewired to ABYC standards during the US refit
- Lithionics lithium house bank, 2 x 220Ah / 440Ah at 12V, with twin 165A Balmar-regulated alternators and two spare Volvo alternators aboard
- 500W solar through a MorningStar MPPT 45 with remote panel; 2kW inverter with a new spare aboard; twin 60A Sterling ProCharge Ultra chargers
- Code Zero on a Harken Reflex top-down furler, and a Precision Dacron genoa on a Harken #2 with a new headstay in 2022
- Square-top fully battened mainsail with Dyneema lazy jacks in a Doyle Stackpack
- Colligo Dyneema-Dux standing rigging, 2017
- Complete electronics replacement in 2019 by Stingray Marine Electronics: Garmin GPSMAP 8612 and 942, 18" Fantom radar, AIS 800, Furuno NavPilot 711C, FI70 instruments, NMEA 2000 backbone rebuilt throughout, itemized invoice on file
- Spectra Ventura 12V watermaker with spare filters, plus integrated rain catchment on the cabin top
- Northern Lights 6kW genset, 900 hours
- 60# stainless Mantus on 140' of 3/8" G4 chain spliced to 200' of octoplait, 2024, with new bridle and three spare anchors
- Halon automatic fire suppression, ACR EPIRB, NAVTEX GMDSS, Life Sling II, USCG signal equipment
- Highfield 310 aluminum RIB on davits, 2022, with a 15 hp Yamaha electric start and new battery in 2024
- Webasto diesel hydronic heat with hot water at anchor; Frigoboat Capri keel-cooled refrigeration; 16,000 BTU air conditioning
- Underwater exhaust systems on both engines with stainless elbows and line cutters
The Lipari 41 is one of the most livable boats Fountaine Pajot built in that era, and the layout is the reason. The cockpit and saloon sit on the same level with the helm integrated at the side rather than up on a flybridge, so whoever is steering stays in the conversation and you are not climbing anywhere to trim. The deck is clear of obstacles fore and aft. Three Harken winches sit at the helm, one of them a two-speed electric, and every control line is led back, which is what makes her a boat a couple can sail without anyone leaving the cockpit.
Forward, a custom folding stainless bowsprit built to match the A-frame carries the Code Zero on a Harken Reflex top-down furler, and it will fly a spinnaker as well. The genoa is Precision Dacron on a Harken #2 with a new headstay in 2022, and the square-top main sits in Dyneema lazy jacks in a Doyle Stackpack. Standing rigging is Colligo Dyneema-Dux, fitted in 2017.
440 amp hour Lithionics lithium bank at 12 volts, fed by 500 watts of solar through a MorningStar MPPT 45, twin 165 amp Balmar-regulated alternators, and twin 60 amp Sterling ProCharge Ultra chargers. A 2kW inverter handles AC, with a new spare aboard, and a 6kW Northern Lights genset covers on-demand power at 900 hours. The Spectra Ventura 12 volt watermaker keeps the tanks up, and the cabin top has integrated rain catchment on top of that. Refrigeration is a Frigoboat Capri keel-cooled system, so there is no raw water intake to clog or strain and it runs quiet. The Webasto diesel hydronic system puts heat in the saloon and stateroom and will make domestic hot water at anchor without running an engine. Air conditioning is 16,000 BTU.
The owner had the entire electronics suite pulled and rebuilt in one job by Stingray Marine Electronics here in Fort Pierce, to his own layout. A Garmin GPSMAP 8612 sits at the nav station and a 942 at the helm, with an 18 inch Fantom solid-state radar, a Garmin AIS 800 transceiver, and Garmin VHF at both stations. The autopilot is a Furuno NavPilot 711C with its own control head at the wheel, and Furuno FI70 displays run off new DST transducers. The NMEA 2000 backbone was rewired through the boat.
She was set up to be lived on, and the details show it. Blackout and mosquito blinds on every overhead hatch, mesh screens for the saloon windows, and two purpose-made hatch screens to funnel breeze into the aft cabin tops. A full cockpit enclosure with a separate helm windscreen and bimini. The cockpit and stern platforms are laid in synthetic teak. Ground tackle is a 60 pound stainless Mantus on 140 feet of 3/8 G4 chain spliced to 200 feet of octoplait, new in 2024, with a new bridle still in the box and three spares aboard including a plow and a folding navy grapple. Safety gear runs to Halon automatic fire suppression, an ACR EPIRB, NAVTEX GMDSS for weather and distress traffic, a Life Sling II and USCG signal equipment.
Both Volvo D1-30s turn three-blade folding props, with the original fixed props aboard as spares, and both carry underwater exhausts with stainless elbows and line cutters for quiet running. The saildrives have been rebuilt. Hours are approximately 1,600 each.
