Formula 310 Sun Sport: BoatTEST Review
Overview
The Formula 310SS is a 31-foot express cruiser that combines thoughtful design with high-quality materials and stylish decor. This model emphasizes versatility and comfort both on deck and below, making it suitable for a variety of activities such as cruising, towing, and entertaining.
Exterior Design and Cockpit Features
The cockpit of the Formula 310SS features a convertible U-shaped seating area designed to accommodate different activities including sunning, towing, or casual cruising. Beneath the seating, there is dedicated storage space for the table and other essentials like life jackets and beach gear. The upholstery uses Prefix Coating to resist stains and facilitate easy cleaning, while Tenera marine-grade thread ensures durability against weather and UV exposure. The seats incorporate high-density DryFast foam and Starlite XL synthetic marine panels to prevent rot, enhance comfort, and maintain shape over time. The wet bar is conveniently positioned for entertaining, equipped with a large storage compartment, an optional cockpit refrigerator, an integrated sink, a Korean countertop, and a trash receptacle. Additionally, the port-side lounger faces the helm to keep guests engaged, featuring storage below that includes integrated dive tank space. Access to the cabin is through a wide sliding companionway door with attractive and sturdy teak steps.
Interior Living Spaces
Below deck, the cabin presents a classic and harmonious design highlighted by high-gloss ash joinery and a bright atmosphere created by overhead skylights and port lights. The maple wood dining table comfortably seats four and is complemented by the Morning Sand décor package, one of three standard interior themes. Optional designer décor packages from Tommy Bahama and Ralph Lauren are also available, with the latter featuring ultra leather upholstery that resembles alligator skin but feels like soft calf leather. Custom draperies and matching pillows add tasteful accents. The forward lounge area is upholstered in chamois ultra leather with Spice Ultra Suede accents, providing a luxurious and smooth texture. The galley is located aft in the cabin for convenient service to the cockpit and includes a refrigerator positioned at eye level, an optional microwave below, a Corian countertop, stainless steel sink, trash receptacle, and a control panel. The cabinetry is finished in stunning high-gloss ash with flawless joinery and stainless steel appliances.
Private Accommodations and Head
The head compartment continues the high-gloss ash finish seen throughout the cabin and includes a large mirror, stainless steel sink, and a vacu-flush toilet. Storage is ample enough to accommodate all necessary toiletries, maintaining the cabin's overall sense of refinement and practicality.
Conclusion
The Formula 310SS impresses with its cohesive design, premium materials, and elegant styling. The thoughtful layout and quality craftsmanship create an exquisite express cruiser that balances comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal in a 31-foot package.
