The Yanmar 100Hp Turbo diesel received an extensive 2000 hr. service in 2026. The teak decks were completely replaced by Teak Decking Systems with 5/8" teak in 2019. Hull painted Flag Blue in 2025. Bruce Farr's design philosophy of combining performance with practicality shines through in this distinctive pilot house variant of his acclaimed 50-footer. This cutter-rigged cruiser represents a thoughtful evolution of the proven Farr 50 platform, offering enhanced comfort and protection without sacrificing the sailing characteristics that made the original design so respected. The pilot house configuration transforms the boat's livability, providing a protected helm station and improved visibility while maintaining the sleek lines characteristic of Farr's work.
With its wing keel and spade rudder arrangement, the boat delivers responsive handling and solid upwind performance, while the moderate displacement keeps it lively in lighter conditions. The substantial ballast ratio contributes to excellent stability and a reassuring feeling in challenging conditions. This design excels as a serious offshore cruiser for couples or small crews who appreciate both comfort and performance.
The protective pilot house makes it particularly appealing for higher-latitude sailing or extended passages where weather protection is paramount. While not a pure racing machine like some Farr designs, it maintains enough performance capability to satisfy sailors who refuse to compromise speed entirely for comfort, (200 nm days are not uncommon) making it an ideal choice for adventurous cruising in demanding conditions.
Also, worth knowing, is that when the vessel was not winter cruising in the Caribbean, it was always winterized and stored indoors. The bottom was prepped and painted for the 2025 / 2026 season.

The Pilot House has remarkable lighting throughout as the owner chose custom hatches and port lights to maximize the light. The custom teak interior adds warmth and sophistication that makes SORCERER unique. Headroom in the salon is approximately 6' 5". There is a TV and DVD player in the Salon. Underneath the raised floor in the center, you'll find great access to the engine and generator with plenty of room to work.
Moving forward, there is a sea berth cabin to starboard which is a perfect wide, twin berth while sailing. Across from that to port is a head which also serves the salon as a Day Head.
The forward cabin is spacious with drawers and full-length hanging lockers. The center line double bunk is accessible easily from either side. The ensuite head has a bath with separate shower stall. All mattresses were replaced approximately 2022.
Moving aft along the port side of the salon and down two steps is a very functional galley. The galley is equipped with a 3-burner stove/oven, a deep freezer, a day refrigerator, a microwave oven and plenty of pantry storage and more than ample storage for plates, glasses, and all your culinary needs. There is an Extra freezer under the Salon seats, for longer distance provisioning. Plenty of counterspace and easy accessibility to the salon and the cockpit.
The owner's cabin is aft of the galley and offers an amazing amount of room as it is the full width of the boat. The bed is on centerline, closer to midships makes passage making more comfortable. Headroom in the Master is approximately 6' 2". There is full width dresser with deep drawers, a settee, large hanging lockers, a desk and vanity. The cabin also has an ensuite head with a separate shower stall.
The entire interior is equipped with dimming lights, electric heads, Ocean air blinds and screens. Custom carpets throughout the boat. Spare leather swatch in case a Salon seat needed a repair.
