Recently all headliners and wall vinyl were upgraded to new. Her exterior teak decks (throughout) were replaced 18 months ago with a thicker teak than originally installed.

Finishing in December of 2016 is a full 2,000 hour CAT engine service to include turbos and injectors.

Fairline Squadron: BoatTEST Review

Boat Test Review on BoatTest.com

Overview

The Fairline Squadron 68 is an upscale motor yacht distinguished by its elevated fit and finish, combining functionality, versatility, and spaciousness. Designed to provide a refined boating experience, this yacht features thoughtful design elements that enhance comfort and usability both on deck and below.

Exterior Design and Deck Areas

Approaching the Squadron 68, notable design features include underwater chines that reduce hull noise in the staterooms, and an elevated spray rail that contributes to a drier ride. The bulwarks are lowered in the center to improve sight lines from the salon. Boarding via the sizable, hydraulically actuated swim platform measuring five feet two inches allows for easy tender launching or use as a private beach. The transom includes a four foot two inch bench seat that folds up and a cleverly positioned transom shower with a shelf designed for shampoo storage. Access stairs on both sides lead to the aft deck, which hosts a C-shaped seating arrangement around a solid wood pedestal table with life raft and fender storage integrated beneath the seats. The 31-inch high bulwarks exceed safety standards, and bar stools positioned in front of a small bar area provide access to an opening window that seamlessly connects the interior salon with the exterior. This entire space is sheltered under the extended flybridge deck, which stands six feet nine inches above the aft deck. Additional social zones are found at the bow with C-shaped seating and a large sun pad that converts to opposing seating, with an optional sunshade supported by stanchions. The flybridge itself offers multiple social areas, including loungers secured to the deck, an electric grill, sink, ice maker, refrigerator, trash receptacle, and storage, all protected by an extendable awning. A J-shaped seating area with a solid wood table featuring pop-up LED lights and beverage holders sits opposite storage for glassware and tableware, with an optional TV on an electric lift. Forward, a U-shaped seating area under a substantial hardtop includes a fabric section that can be opened or closed with one touch, converting the space into a sun pad with an optional high-low table and filler cushion. Large opening windows and tri-fold doors further blend indoor and outdoor living spaces.

Interior Living Spaces

Inside, the yacht exhibits a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The galley and dining areas feature a gloss finish exceeding 92%, fluted woodwork carried over from the exterior, and clever storage solutions such as pull-out drawers under seating. The walnut dining table with maple inlay and a 94% gloss finish demonstrates the meticulous assembly process. The salon is spacious and airy, illuminated by large windows that provide excellent views and natural light. Seating includes a loveseat and U-shaped arrangement with a versatile coffee table that can be replaced by a pedestal table for formal dining. The sofa design maximizes floor space and comfort, while integrated storage, an electric lift TV, and a Sonos sound system with 23 speakers, 3 subwoofers, and 9 amplifiers provide entertainment throughout the yacht. Companion seating near the helm allows guests to enjoy the captain’s view comfortably.

This review does not provide specific details on the yacht’s engine specifications or performance metrics.

Private Accommodations

Below deck, the companionway continues the theme of refined fit and finish with curved joinery and high-gloss surfaces. To port at the base of the stairs is a versatile utility room featuring ample storage, a hull-side window with ventilation, and full-height refrigeration and freezer units. This space can be customized as a guest stateroom with over-under berths or an office. The full-beam master stateroom offers a center-mounted berth measuring 78 by 64 inches with six feet six inches of overhead clearance. Large hull-side windows with opening port lights provide natural light and ventilation. The room features a large storage credenza with drawers and a vanity, curved woodwork, and a 43-inch flat-screen TV. The master head includes a vessel sink on a solid surface counter, mirrored storage, an electric flush toilet, and a spacious shower with an opening port light and both rain and handheld showerheads. Forward of the master is the VIP stateroom with an island berth accessible from both sides, six feet six inches of overhead clearance, and hull-side windows with opening port lights. Storage is thoughtfully integrated above the windows and in hanging lockers. The VIP head includes a separate walk-in shower and serves as a day head. An alternative layout can convert the utility room into a day head, providing the VIP with a private en-suite. The third stateroom to starboard contains twin berths that can be electrically combined into a large berth, a hull-side window with an opening port light, a TV, storage, and a private en-suite bathroom.

Conclusion

The Fairline Squadron 68 impresses with its combination of spaciousness, functional versatility, and an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship and finish. Thoughtful design details throughout the exterior and interior spaces enhance comfort and usability, making it a compelling choice for those seeking an upscale motor yacht experience. The elevated fit and finish evident in this model signals Fairline’s commitment to quality in its future yacht offerings.
