2000 U.S. Army M2R Bridge Erection Boat - Twin Steyr Diesels - Military Aluminum Workboat
This authentic U.S. Army M2R Bridge Erection Boat is a purpose-built military aluminum workboat designed for combat engineer, bridge support, and inland waterway operations. Extremely rugged and heavily constructed, this vessel was engineered for pushing and maneuvering Army bridge sections, utility operations, and riverine support missions.
Originally part of the U.S. Army bridging fleet, the boat was later reset/repowered by TACOM at Red River Army Depot (RRAD) in November 2015. A rare opportunity to own a genuine military surplus engineer support craft with commercial-grade construction and twin diesel power.
The welded aluminum hull features a shallow-draft modified-V utility design optimized for rivers, canals, inland waterways, and harbor operations. Heavy-duty bow push knees allow the vessel to safely push barges, bridge pontoons, docks, and floating equipment.
Powered by twin Steyr 6FS-30D inline-6 marine diesel engines producing approximately 230-250 HP each, the boat delivers excellent low-speed thrust and maneuverability while maintaining military-grade reliability. Twin-engine configuration with separate controls and instrumentation.
The enclosed pilothouse provides excellent visibility and protection from weather, while the open aft work deck offers substantial room for cargo, equipment, dive operations, utility work, or conversion potential.
An outstanding platform for:
- commercial utility operations
- push boat service
- expedition conversion
- dive support
- marina/harbor operations
- military collectors
- river cruising conversion
- industrial marine use
