Overview

Easily board SCOUT from either the port or starboard side of the cockpit, assisted by her bronze and wood hardware. Fiberglass gunwales with mahogany toe rails provide a secure first step before stepping down onto the Tracy Deluxe removable storage steps and fiberglass nonskid cockpit sole.

The protected wheelhouse features a full enclosure, opening windows, and an overhead hatch, allowing plenty of natural light and fresh air throughout the space. A molded storage bench aft provides comfortable guest seating, while an adjustable center helm chair offers a commanding position from which to operate the vessel. Additional wall-mounted, collapsible seating is located to port and starboard of the helm. A folding teak table is stowed to port, while a varnished wood boarding ladder is berthed to starboard.

The helm chair also provides a convenient mounting point for the portable refrigerator/electric cooler currently stored below, with a dedicated outlet nearby—a useful arrangement for entertaining at anchor or alongside the dock. Beneath the helm chair, a hinged hatch provides nearly 360-degree access to the main engine and mechanical systems below. The lazarette has also been modified to provide convenient access to the ballast pocket and steering system.

Three steps down forward to port brings you into the cabin, where an L-shaped galley is situated to starboard and an interior navigation station is located to port.

The galley features durable Formica laminate countertops with a brushed nickel sink, hot-and-cold bronze faucet, built-in icebox, and separate storage compartment. Three large lockers provide ample space for bulky items and provisions, while a four-drawer arrangement keeps frequently used items close at hand.

Opposite the galley, the navigation station includes a desk with bench seating and a dedicated Garmin display. The desk incorporates a large built-in storage compartment and raised vanity for additional workspace and storage. A ship's bell, brass barometer, and thermometer are mounted on the bulkhead, while a hanging hook aft provides a convenient location for foul-weather gear.

Moving forward through the cabin, a substantial kingpost provides structural support for the foredeck and mast above. As originally designed as a motorsailer, SCOUT retains the original chainplates on both port and starboard sides of the deck, with their through-bolted hardware still visible.

Long settees extend along both sides of the cabin, with built-in storage beneath. The starboard settee also houses a modified home for the electric cooler and its dedicated outlet. Mahogany hull ceilings provide a warm backdrop behind the seating and cushions, while two hanging lockers forward offer additional storage. A reverse-cycle heating and air conditioning unit powered by the inverter provides year-round comfort.

At the forward end of the cabin is the enclosed head, featuring a manual-flush toilet, vanity with sink, two storage lockers, and mirrored anchor locker. A traditional bulkhead with large wooden door provides privacy from the main cabin.

Throughout the interior, SCOUT showcases the details that define her classic character, including warm wood accents, bronze hardware, and traditional plank styling. Multiple opening portlights and overhead hatches provide abundant natural light and ventilation, while traditional kerosene lamps complement modern AC and DC lighting fixtures to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

The foredeck and hardtop can be accessed through any of the overhead hatchers, or either side of the wheelhouse.

Broker Comments

There is something wonderfully different about SCOUT. Built during an era when a yacht was expected to have as much personality as capability, her classic lines and warm interior invite you to slow down and enjoy the journey. The current owner regularly solos her through the lock and has been seen throughout the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and crossing the Albemarle Sound. SCOUT is a great platform for the discerning yacht enthusiast that’s ready to turn heads wherever they go.
