As an Excess dealer I sold this boat when she was new. The owner has now taken delivery of a Excess 13 I sold to him and his boat is in the MED. No real need for two catamarans. However, it is bitter sweet for the owner to sell his 12 but I suppose it is a positive testimony to how much he loved the 12 and decided to move up to a 13.
This particular EXCESS 12 has been well looked after and treated very well. The owners are a meticulous couple. He has added a few items over the years and upgraded more.
For example , she has a nice watermaker and underwater lights.
A new one similarly equipped would have been close to $640,000 and with tariffs more. However, truth in fact, is that EXCESS decided to replace the 12 with your choice of an 11 or a 13.
The Excess 12 adopts a marked chine and a pronounced deck sheer, creating unique lines. Her twin helm stations, located aft, offer a maximum of sensations and create a more seamanlike concept that brings us closer to the sea. The light and precise helm and the opening bimini are reminiscent of the pleasures of helming a monohull.
On the outside there is the usual trampoline between the hulls, great for sunbathing, as well as the large exterior table. The hulls have a large volume with the option of a three double cabin or four double cabin version.
With her completely new lines for the coachroof, a short nacelle and the taller Pulse Line rig, the Excess 12 brings a breath of fresh air to the world of cruising catamarans.

With unique, graceful and seductive lines, let yourself be carried away by her design. The visibility from the helm station, the fine touch of the wheel, the opening bimini roof... everything has been done to allow you to fully live the experience of the Excess 12.

Customization Options: Owners have the flexibility to customize various aspects of the Excess 12, including interior finishes, layout configurations, and additional equipment, allowing for a personalized sailing experience that caters to individual preferences.
Cons
Price Point: As a premium catamaran, the Excess 12 can be on the higher end of the price spectrum, which may not fit every budget, particularly for new sailors or those looking for entry-level vessels.
Complex Systems: While the high-tech features can enhance the sailing experience, they may also require a learning curve for less experienced sailors. Familiarity with modern navigation and electronic systems is essential for making the most of the boat's capabilities.
Maintenance and Upkeep: As with any vessel, regular maintenance is crucial. The advanced materials and systems used in the Excess 12 may necessitate specific care and attention, which could lead to increased upkeep responsibilities.
Draft Limitations: While the shallow draft is beneficial for accessing shallower waters, it may limit performance in certain sea conditions compared to deeper-hulled competitors that can better handle larger waves.
Twin Engine Configuration: While twin engines provide excellent maneuverability, they also mean that maintenance and fuel costs can be higher compared to single-engine alternatives, which could be a consideration for potential buyers. ### Conclusion The 2020 Excess 12 stands out as a remarkable choice for those seeking a modern, performance-driven catamaran with plenty of comforts for cruising.
