The Eastern 31 Casco Bay is a descendant of the original JC 31, a commercial-style Downeast workboat popular along the New England coast. Designed by naval architect Royal Lowell, the Casco Bay rides on a semi-displacement hull with a graceful sheer, hard chines, and a long prop-protecting keel. According to the manufacturer, over 400 of these 31-foot hulls have been built going back to the days of the JC 31. Many are in charter operation, but more are used for recreational fishing and family cruising. Cabin accommodations include a forward V-berth, enclosed head with shower, teak and holly sole, and a hanging locker. The pilothouse offers comfortable helm and companion seats, a settee/dinette that converts to a double bunk, and a galley with a two-burner stove, countertop, sink, and refrigerator. The windshield section opens for ventilation. The roomy cockpit is large enough for entertaining, diving, or fishing activities.

We've owned Sapphire for five years and are only her second owners. We named her Sapphire after a favorite ski run at Okemo Mountain, fittingly, the last trail we ever skied there together as a family. She has been well loved and meticulously maintained throughout our ownership. Some of our favorite memories were made exploring the Boston Harbor Islands where we'd spend long, easy days on the water with family and friends aboard. We took a memorable trip to the Cape Cod Canal to see our daughter off as she departed on the URI RV Endeavor for a research expedition, a day we'll never forget. We've watched planes glide in for landing at Logan from out on the water, spotted a whale out past Graves Light, and docked for dinner nights in Hull. Anchoring off Gallups Island for a full day of sun and swimming is always a favorite. Sapphire has given us countless fabulous days on the water!
We have decided to sell Sapphire and move into a trailerable boat that we can use closer to home.
