Known as the Northern Bay 36, this classically styled cruiser was designed by Spencer Lincoln, constructed by Downeast Boats & Composites (Penobscot, ME) and finished by JS Boatworks (Brunswick, ME). Built to the heavy standards of a true workboat, this Northern Bay has the finishing touches and amenities required of a cruising yacht, versatile enough for weekending or full-time cruising.
Heavy duty hardware and rock-solid construction are found in every direction. No lightweight, the Northern Bay 36 displaces 22,000 pounds, yet will find a comfortable cruise at about 16 knots and a 10 GPH fuel burn.
"Karios" was selected by the current Lake Michigan boater after a painstaking search and this Northern Bay 36 was then boated from Virginia to its present home port of St. Joseph, Michigan. "Kairos" shows the benefits of time moored primarily in fresh water, with all fittings, paint and systems in excellent condition. Photos shown here display the boat as shown indoors currently, with the custom winter cover just having been removed.
