2004 Dolphin 16 Renegade Pro powered by a 2020 Yamaha F70 with only 63 hours and sitting on a 2020 Ram-Lin aluminum trailer.

The Dolphin Renegade Pro is a purpose-built technical poling skiff designed around one primary objective: getting shallow. With its narrow 6' beam, 4-degree running surface, shallow-water pocket/tunnel, broad bow flare and integrated spray rails, the Renegade has long been a favorite for anglers targeting redfish, trout and other inshore species where quiet access and shallow draft matter.

Dolphin's published specifications for the Renegade Pro list a 15'10" LOA, 6' beam, 5" draft and 70-hp maximum rating. The design remains part of Dolphin's lineup today, more than two decades after this boat was built.

This particular 2004 Renegade has received a number of meaningful updates over its life, most importantly a Yamaha F70 placed into service in May 2020 that currently shows just 63 hours. Yamaha customer service has confirmed the May 2020 in-service date. Original factory warranty coverage expired in May 2025 and there is no remaining Y.E.S. coverage.

The F70 is mounted to a SeaStar hydraulic jack plate and turns a four-blade stainless propeller, an especially appropriate combination for the Renegade's shallow-water mission. BayStar hydraulic steering and Lenco electric trim tabs round out the running setup.

At the bow is a 2021 Minn Kota Riptide PowerDrive 55, a 12-volt, 55-lb-thrust, 48" trolling motor equipped with i-Pilot GPS functionality and Spot-Lock. The Minn Kota model number aboard this boat corresponds to the i-Pilot-equipped Riptide PowerDrive 55/48" model.

A Simrad GO9 XSE chartplotter is mounted prominently at the center console. The helm also includes Yamaha instrumentation with digital engine-hour display, an analog fuel gauge, Yamaha binnacle control, jack-plate control, Lenco trim-tab controls and a stainless steering wheel with control knob.

Despite its compact footprint, the Renegade offers a surprisingly functional fishing layout. Large fore and aft casting decks surround an open center cockpit, while extensive carpeted under-gunwale rod storage is provided on both sides. The boat carries three forward-facing and three aft-facing rod tubes per side, allowing multiple rods to remain secure and out of the working cockpit.

The forward deck includes a large gasketed storage compartment with deep drainage gutters, rubber matting and a protected forward fuel-tank area. A removable Blue Point Fabrication bow standing/leaning support provides additional stability for extended sight-fishing sessions and can be removed when an unobstructed foredeck is preferred.

The compact center console incorporates an upholstered forward jump seat/backrest with drained storage beneath. A fixed upholstered helm-seat cushion sits aft of the console without interfering with access to the large rear storage compartment.

Additional fishing equipment includes an anodized-aluminum poling platform with boarding steps, removable leaning support for the poling platform, push-pole storage, a small aerated aft baitwell/livewell with high-speed pickup and light, cockpit lighting, compartment lighting, onboard battery charger, dual-battery system with selector switch, pop-up navigation light and stainless hardware.

The boat rides on a 2020 Ram-Lin aluminum trailer equipped with spare tire, rear guide posts and transom tie-downs.

This is not being represented as a freshly completed full restoration; rather, it is an older, proven Dolphin hull that has been meaningfully modernized over time and now carries a low-hour Yamaha four-stroke, newer trailer, GPS trolling motor, modern electronics and the shallow-water equipment expected on a serious technical skiff.

For an angler looking for a compact poling skiff particularly well suited to Mosquito Lagoon, the Indian River Lagoon, Florida Keys backcountry or similarly shallow fisheries, the Renegade Pro remains a compelling platform.
