A truly impressive boat, the DH550 is an innovative design - reflecting the best of current trends in multihull thinking. The product of the collaboration of two world class designer/builder/ yachtsmen - this is a state-of-the-art design, combining efficient hull shapes, a practical, efficient deck/rig layout, and a well designed interior (large, open, practical and useable). The result? A boat with the ability to make fast passages - with a rig which is easily handled by a short-handed crew - and an interior that is remarkably comfortable. In short - a fine blend of looks, performance and live ability.
Modern, wood/epoxy construction is utilized, to achieve superior stiffness, strength and impact resistance. Top quality Okoume plywood, and epoxy saturation is used in the hulls, with Western Red Cedar used in the stringers. Brazilian Mahogany is used in structural areas, because of its superior hardness and strength. There is also reinforcing fiberglass and Epoxy used in structural areas to beef up the high stress areas - resulting in a remarkably stiff and strong vessel.
