42' De Antonio 2023 - "Painkiller"

2023 De Antonio Yachts D42 Open - Triple Mercury 350 Verados (280hrs)

A triumph of modern Mediterranean design, the De Antonio Yachts D42 Open delivers the perfect blend of avant-garde styling, clever engineering, and luxurious comfort. This 2023 example, powered by triple Mercury 350 Verados, is a statement of performance and innovation-combining a walk-around layout, hidden outboard propulsion, and a level of finish typically found only on larger yachts. With a Cummins 4kw diesel generator, you have ample power to run A/C and all accessories.

Exterior Design & Layout

The D42 Open's silhouette is defined by her flush decks, concealed engines, and integrated sunpads, all forming a single, uninterrupted design line from bow to stern. Her outboards are ingeniously hidden beneath the expansive aft sunpad and swim platform-achieving the sleek profile of an inboard cruiser while maintaining the performance, efficiency, and serviceability of triple outboards.

Full walk-around side decks framed by high bulwarks ensure safe and comfortable movement, while her angular hull windows and minimalist detailing reflect De Antonio's Barcelona design DNA.

From morning swims to sunset cocktails, the extended swim platform connects effortlessly with the social cockpit and sun lounge.

Cockpit & Retractable Sunshade

The cockpit is the social centerpiece of the D42 Open, designed for entertaining and relaxation. Twin teak dining tables with folding leaves convert from a formal dining setup to an extended sun lounge in seconds. The upholstered seating wraps fully around the aft perimeter, encouraging open conversation and flow.

Overhead, a retractable electric sunshade extends at the touch of a button from the hardtop, providing instant protection from the midday sun without disturbing the boat's clean aesthetic. The structure is engineered with integrated support arms that deploy smoothly, retracting completely into the hardtop when not in use. This shade covers the entire cockpit seating area, ensuring comfort during long afternoons on the water.

Motorized Roof & Bridge Clearance

A highlight of the D42's innovation is its motorized hardtop roof panel-a sliding electric mechanism that can open fully to create an open-air feel or close securely for shade and weather protection. This adjustable roof is engineered on a low-profile aluminum frame, blending seamlessly with the boat's design language.

When navigating waterways with low-clearance bridges, the entire roof structure can be lowered electronically, reducing air draft substantially and allowing the vessel to pass safely without sacrificing interior volume or design integrity. It's a hallmark feature that sets the D42 apart in her class, enabling access to areas many hardtop yachts simply can't reach.

Exterior Galley & Entertaining

The full-beam outdoor galley is perfectly positioned aft of the helm, allowing seamless service to both the cockpit and swim platform. Appointed with a stainless sink, electric cooktop, microwave, and refrigeration drawers, it rivals a shore-side kitchen in both finish and function. Abundant storage, LED task lighting, and durable solid-surface countertops make it as practical as it is beautiful.

The design encourages true alfresco living-everything you need to prepare meals, entertain guests, and enjoy cocktails is within easy reach, yet elegantly concealed when not in use.

Helm & Performance

The helm station is sleek and ergonomic, featuring a Simrad GO12 XSE multifunction display, integrated engine monitoring, and stainless steel controls. Mercury's electro-hydraulic steering delivers precise, effortless handling even without joystick control. Visibility from the helm is superb, aided by wraparound tempered glass and anti-glare finishes.

Triple Mercury 350 Verado outboards deliver exhilarating acceleration and a cruise that's both smooth and quiet. Top speeds in the mid-40 knot range are achievable, yet she remains composed and fuel-efficient in the 30-35 knot cruise range.

Interior Accommodations

Below deck, the D42 Open reveals a surprising amount of volume and luxury. Natural light floods in through the hull windows and overhead skylights, giving the cabin an airy, loft-like feel.

Forward stateroom with a full-size berth, mirrored cabinetry, and designer lighting

Aft cabin with twin berths (convertible to double) and large hull-side windows

Private head with electric toilet, enclosed shower, and contemporary fixtures

Though compact, the layout is expertly designed to offer real overnight comfort for up to four guests.

Audio, Lighting & Ambiance

A premium JL Audio system with strategically placed cockpit and bow speakers provides clear, full-range sound throughout. Ambient LED lighting along the deck and underwater zones transforms the boat at night-creating the perfect atmosphere for entertaining or evening cruises.

This 2023 De Antonio Yachts D42 Open represents the perfect balance between contemporary style and intelligent design. With her triple 350 Verados, retractable sunshade, motorized roof, and exceptional deck layout, she's as functional as she is beautiful. Whether island-hopping, hosting friends for an evening on the water, or navigating shallow inland routes under low bridges, this D42 performs every role with sophistication and flair.
