Additional Information
DimensionsLength Overall 38'Water Line Length 34'Beam 13'9"Draft 3' 10"Displacement 20,000 PoundsLaunched July, 2000. Builder: Wayne Milner - Professional Engineer and Boat Builder.  DESIGN Plans are for the Glen-L Yukon design, Plan No. 785 lengthened to 38', rear deck brought up to level of side decks, and water tanks relocated to aft end all after consultation with designer. ConstructionFraming is kiln dried Douglas Fir. Planking is exterior grade Douglas Fir plywood good one side.  Bottom is planked double diagonally with one layer of half inch plywood and one layer of five eighths plywood.  Bow section of sides is double diagonally planked with two layers of half inch plywood. Remainder of sides is three quarter inch plywood. Decks and superstructure are three quarter inch plywood.  Keel is laminated kiln dried spruce interspersed with layers of plywood.  Fastenings are stainless steel screws, galvanized bolts, and stainless steel threaded rods as required.  The hull is covered with two layers of 10 ounce biaxial fibreglass cloth saturated with East System Epoxy. Three layers of cloth were applied over keel area and chines. Hull was primed with International AL-200 and painted with International Premium High Gloss Enamel. Bottom was painted with International Bottom Coat (now Bottom Coat NT).  EngineEngine is a 6 cylinder Ford Diesel model 2715E. Engine hours as of October 2016 are approximately 6,500.  Engine cooling is by way of a closed system keel cooler with an expansion tank. Exhaust, engine oil, and transmission cooling is accomplished by drawing raw water through a sea cock by means of a Jabsco one inch pump. The water passes through a Groco strainer located between the sea cock and the pump. It then passes through an engine oil cooler, a transmission oil cooler and discharges into the engine exhaust. Transmission is 2.1:1 Velvet Drive. Fuel TanksThere are two fuel tanks with a capacity of 183 Imperial gallons each. Tanks are located port and starboard in the engine compartment. The tanks were fabricated by Bridgewater Metal Industries in March of 1999 out of one quarter inch 5052 aluminum. Tanks were tested to an eight foot head.  Propeller and ShaftThe propeller has a diameter of 22 inches and a pitch of 18". It has left hand rotation, is made of bronze and was fabricated by Lunenburg Foundry in the year 2000. The propeller is connected to the engine by a one and one half inch 316 stainless steel shaft with a suitable cutless bearing, five inch coupling and a Drivesaver. It passes through the hull via a shaft log with a packing gland.   SteeringThe boat has a two station setup. Each station has a Capilano Helm Pump, Model 1250, connected through five eights refrigeration grade copper tubing to a Capilano cylinder, Model 150, which is attached to a tiller arm affixed to a one and one quarter inch rudder stock. The rudder is made up of a steel plate welded to the one and one quarter inch rudder stock encased in plywood, shaped, and covered with fibreglass cloth. The rudder is supported by a rudder port with packing gland at the top and by a removable bearing and fitting at the bottom to allow for rudder removal.  ElectricalThere are two banks of 6 volt golf cart batteries, two batteries each, for house batteries. There is a separate starting battery. Batteries are charged by the engine alternator when the engine is running. There is also a 20 Amp Xantrex battery charger for use when shore power is available. There is a battery Isolator. On the DC side the DC distribution panel is connected to the batteries through a Blue Sea selection switch which permits connection to House Battery Bank 1, or to House Battery Bank 2, or to both battery banks at the same time. DC Distribution is through a Blue Sea 13 circuit Direct Current Breaker and Distribution Panel. DC distribution is as shown on the attached schematic diagram. On the AC side, there is a 30 Amp Marinco inlet for shore power connection. There is a Blue Sea switch which allows for connection of the distribution panel to either an inverter or shore power, but not both at the same time. The selection switch has a reverse polarity indicator. There is a Perko On/Off switch which connects the batteries to a 1750 watt PortaWattz Inverter. There is an ANL 250 Amp fuse in the line between the batteries and the Inverter Switch. There is also a remote switch to turn the Inverter on or off beside the AC distribution panel. AC distribution is as shown on the attached schematic diagram. Bilge PumpsThere are two bilge pumps, one located just aft of the engine compartment forward bulkhead, and one just aft of the aft engine compartment bulkhead. Both are Rule 3700 GPH pumps controlled by Rule Super Switched and with fuse and switch panel at the maindeck steering station. Both discharge through the side with one way valves in the discharge lines. There is also a Guzzler hand bilge pump located in the engine compartment, and a Rule shower sump pump of 360 GPH capacity located in the shower compartment. Domestic Water SupplyThere are two water tanks located in the aft compartment that hold 80 Imperial gallons each, and there is one 30 U.S. gallon drinking water tank under the bunk in the forward compartment. There are three sinks and two showers. The sinks are in each cabin and one in the galley. One shower is, of course, in the shower compartment. The other shower is outside on the Aft Deck. There is an 11 gallon water heater at the aft end of the engine compartment on the Port side. The water is heated by the engine through a heat exchanger, or electrically if shore power is available. A Jabsco pump and accumulator tank are located in the aft compartment between the two water tanks through which it draws water through a strainer. A separate drinking water pump is located just behind the drinking water tank in the forward compartment. It discharges through a separate faucet by the galley sink. HeadThe boat is equipped with a Jabsco manual toilet with a 20 USG holding tank, arranged so as to be pumped out or to discharge overboard.  PropaneThe boat is equipped with a Tasco two burner stove with an oven located in the galley. The propane supply, two 20 pound standard propane tanks, is located in a vented compartment, isolated from the interior of the boat, located under the galley counter. Propane passes through the compartment sidewall via a gas tight fitting to the stove. The boat is equipped with a Trident solenoid shutoff valve, propane detector (located under the stove), and alarm. There is a Magma Propane barbecue located on the aft rail outside the cabin. It uses the one pound propane cylinders.  Safety EquipmentThe boat carries all the safety equipment required by the Coast Guard, including flares, life jackets, life ring, throw rope, flashlight, etc. It has a swim platform with a ladder. It has a fixed and hand held VHF radio. It usually tows a dinghy. There are three GPS units aboard, one of which is a chart plotter, and radar. There are two depth sounders. The boat carries four fire extinguishers. VentilationVentillation is provided through two air scoops, one on each side aft of the sise cabin windows. Inside the scoops are five 4" plastic pipes on each side. Four of these (two on each side) lead to the engine compartment. One on the Port side leads to the shower compartment, one on the Starboard side leads to the head compartment. One on each side leads to the aft cabin, and one on each side leads to the aft compartment where the water tanks are. There are exhaust fans in the shower and head compartments leading to cowls on the outside. Forward cabin ventilation is via the forward hatch.
