Chip-Chip
Chip-Chip is a Great Dane 28 full keel transom hung rudder masthead sloop rig.
She is one of the most well traveled and well known Great Dane 28s ever built.
Her hull number is 138 and sail number is D138.
In the last 5 years she has traveled Approx 10,000 miles with her previous owners, a family of 4 from Sweden. Stunning lines and spectacular seakeeping abilities abound on this compact but spacious rig. In the advert you will see some candid photos they took on their journey as well as current photos. Chip-Chip is currently under new ownership and has been rehabilitated after sitting roughly 24 months. Chip-Chip is being sold in ready to use condition. Set off on your own global adventure of a lifetime or enjoy her as a great weekender. She is currently located on the hard in St. Marys Georgia, a prime starting point for an atlantic crossing or cruising down to the Bahamas.
Ã?Â
Reason for selling from the current owner:
ââ?¬Å?I bought Chip-Chip after seeing her (in disarray from cruising and sitting if i'm honest) because of her bones & history. I really had no interest in buying a sailboat of this size, I was looking at a 36-45 ft boat realistically. From sitting up she looked terrible cosmetically but after 20 min of looking her over and another day of reading her past travels I knew I had to save Chip-Chip. Everywhere I looked she just seemed to be eager and well built. The more I started tinkering with and fixing the better she looked. Chip-Chip is too good of a boat with too much history to not be loved and enjoyed. Now my part of her story is complete. Chip-Chip is once again ready to sail and it's time for someone else to take her back out to blue water and enjoy.ââ?¬ï¿½
TECHNICAL
Chip-Chip is wired for Euro power, that being said when the boat was rewired by the previous owner they made the entire boat run on 12V. The only thing that does not run on 12V is the battery charger which isn't necessary with adequate sunlight. The battery charger could also be used with the implementation of a euro to USA converter(cheap on Amazon)
The portable AC added by the current owner is included with the sale if desired but needs 110V to run.
