1969 U.S. Coast Guard Motor Surf Boat
Professionally remanufactured by Ocean Technical Services
A Piece of American Maritime History You Can Actually Use
Some boats blend in.
This one attracts a crowd everywhere it goes.
Originally built in 1969 as a U.S. Coast Guard Motor Surf Boat, this vessel was designed for one purpose: operating in conditions where ordinary boats could not. These legendary boats were launched from larger Coast Guard vessels to perform surf rescue missions and safely bring people home.
Today, this professionally remanufactured vessel offers a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of maritime history that remains practical, comfortable, and remarkably capable for modern cruising.
Wherever she goes, people stop to ask questions, take photographs, and share stories. Owning this boat is much like owning a rare classic automobile-there is simply nothing else quite like it on the water.
Proven and Enjoyable Cruising
While many unique boats become museum pieces, this one continues to be actively enjoyed.
We regularly cruise the canals of Palm Coast, Florida, and make day trips to St. Augustine and Daytona Beach for lunch. The boat has also completed a much more ambitious journey from Boca Raton through Lake Okeechobee and across to Naples, Florida, performing flawlessly throughout the trip.
With the fuel economy of a diesel and the seaworthiness of a Coast Guard rescue craft, this boat offers capabilities that traditional electric boats, pontoons, and many recreational cruisers simply cannot match.
Built for Safety and Stability
The original Motor Surf Boat design was legendary for stability and safety.
These vessels were designed with self-righting characteristics and were intended to operate in surf conditions that would challenge many modern recreational boats.
One memorable demonstration involved thirteen adults standing on one side of the boat while attempting to force it over. Despite their efforts, the boat remained remarkably stable.
Weighing over 7,000 pounds, the boat handles wakes, chop, and rough water with ease. Family and guests can move around comfortably without the excessive rocking common in lighter boats.
Efficient Cummins Diesel Power
The previous owner invested more than $43,000 including installing a Cummins 4BTA turbo diesel engine in the summer of 2007, along with a custom top.
The Cummins 4BTA is widely regarded as one of the most durable marine diesel engines ever built, offering an ideal combination of reliability, efficiency, and long service life.
Performance data includes:
• Approximately 1 gallon per hour at 7.8 mph and 1,200 RPM (sips fuel - while your friends are spending money filling up their engines you will be still cruising...)
• Approximately 6.2 gallons per hour at 17.6 mph and 2,400 RPM
• 30-gallon diesel fuel tank
Unlike electric boats that require charging infrastructure or range planning, this vessel offers exceptional flexibility for extended cruising adventures.

• Professional Awlgrip paint application completed approximately two years ago ($12,000 investment) bottom painted at the same time.

• Remanufactured raw-water cooler 2025

Why We're Selling
From the owners:
"Quite simply, this is my dream boat.
I love everything about it-the history, the capability, the attention it receives, and the unique experience it provides on the water.
The only reason we're considering selling is that my wife and I find ourselves using our sea-cycle pedel powered catamaran (that has a 3hp eletric motor also) to cruise the canals and so our motor surf boat just sits on the lift.....
That should tell prospective buyers everything they need to know about how much we enjoy owning this remarkable vessel."
The Company offers the details of this vessel in good faith but cannot guarantee or warrant the accuracy of this information nor warrant the condition of the vessel. A buyer should instruct his agents, or his surveyors, to investigate such details as the buyer desires validated.
