50 Artisanal Power Catamaran 2014

"Merjo 6" was designed for cruising the Great Loop in comfort and built to Lloyd's Standards. From the enclosed flybridge with 360 degree visibility to the extensive indoor and outdoor living space the "Merjo 6" was designed for off the grid living with 8 - 135 Watt Solar Panels and recycled grey water (used for toilets). R15 insulation helps keep living quarters comfortable regardless of outside temperatures. The Volvo D6 diesel engines connected to the DPH Duoprop drives makes for true tracking and lower vibration and noise. Add the dual Bow Thrusters for stress free tight space handling. With the drives up the draft is a mere 29" ideal for exploring inland waterways, the Bahamas and/or the Florida Keys.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The 2014 Custom Artisanal Power Catamaran offers a unique blend of craftsmanship and performance, making it a standout choice for enthusiasts of custom-built power catamarans. Here are some of the key pros and cons:

Pros

Custom Craftsmanship: Each vessel is tailored with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a unique and high-quality build that reflects artisanal craftsmanship.

Stability and Performance: The catamaran design provides excellent stability on the water, enhancing comfort during cruising and reducing seasickness.

Spacious Layout: The twin-hull configuration allows for more deck and cabin space compared to monohull boats of similar length, offering comfortable living and entertaining areas.

Fuel Efficiency: Power catamarans often benefit from improved fuel efficiency due to their hull design, enabling longer cruising range with less fuel consumption.

Shallow Draft: The design typically features a shallow draft, allowing access to shallower waters and more versatile anchoring options.

Cons

Cost: Being a custom artisanal build, the initial purchase price can be higher compared to mass-produced power catamarans.

Maintenance: Custom components and unique design features might require specialized maintenance and can lead to higher upkeep costs.

Docking Space: The wider beam of a power catamaran can make finding suitable docking slips more challenging and potentially more expensive.

Limited Availability: As a custom build from 2014, finding additional models or replacement parts might be more difficult than for more common production boats.
