A message from the owners of Moon River
A dream deferred....
We bought our Corbin "Moon River" (Hull 186) a couple of years ago with the intention of living aboard half the year while outfitting her for long-distance voyaging. Meanwhile, other factors made this plan unworkable. At least for now.
We chose this particular Robert Dufour-designed boat for several reasons:
1) A very strong rating for blue water sailing. Compares well to Pacific Seacraft 40 and Valiant 40.â¨
2) A factory finish with a great layout (most Corbins are owner-finished)
3) Added features like a fresh 49 HP Kubota diesel w/800 hours, furling main sail and genoa, a water maker, generator, decent navigation electronics, newer wiring and panel, large tankage, good sails, mast steps, mast pulpits, deck lighting and hailing, full cockpit canvas, good ventilation via dorades and hatches, and a huge amount of storage - not to mention a stand-up engine room when the cockpit sole is lifted.
We've decided to sell because even though improvements have been made (updated plumbing, electric head with salt/freshwater selectable flush, new lifelines, batteries with a hydration system, an Autoprop propeller, etc.) there's more to do and we can't attend to deferred maintenance like we'd want to. I have a list as well as a relatively recent survey. But she's ready to sail now and needs not much more than cosmetics and a little tuning.
Some changes, like the futon-like memory-foam queen berth in the pilothouse, were more for comfort aboard when we stayed in our slip. The forward V-berth has a custom mattress and provides private quarters (and air conditioning system) while at sea. The quilted maple table in the dinette lowers to create a double.
We've sailed in rough weather and learned that she's steady and stout and completely trustworthy. She's also got a good reefer, heat, galley, audio/video, propane fireplace, waste handling, and sleeping/watch positions. The aft cockpit is well-protected and won't let the boat get swamped - a good size for a sailing couple.

• An Avon hypalon dinghy w/roll up floor and carrying case in very good condition
• An ICOM IC-M710 SSB with an auto tuner, KISS ground, and collapsible Shakespeare antenna
• Raymarine A50 chart plotter and mounting pod for outside helm
• A 44 lb. Rocna anchor
We're taking a loss. But we want to find good owners and are willing to subsidize your dream so that Moon River goes sailing even when we can't be aboard.
