This classic vessel was designed by David Sadler and Jeremy Rodgers. She is elegant and seaworthy and has proven herself capable as a true blue water vessel. The Contessa 26 gained a reputation when Tania Aebi sailed hers around the world at 18 years old.
The Contessaââ¬â¢s windward performance is excellent. She is surprisingly fast for her size as well as being responsive and well balanced. Thanks to her small size and rig, the Contessa 26 is easy to handle in just about any conditions, making her popular with single-handers. She has a large, transom mounted rudder which is also particularly good for self-steering systems. With half her weight in her keel overall stability is good.
