Chris-Craft Launch 25: BoatTEST Review
Overview
Chris-Craft continues to build on its heritage of excellence in boating design with the 25 Open Launch, a vessel that masterfully recaptures the classic lines and signature details that defined the brand. This model blends timeless styling with modern functionality, offering a versatile boat capable of handling both offshore conditions and lake cruising with ease.
Exterior Design and Deck Features
The 25 Open Launch features a closed transom as standard, with an optional open walkthrough transom, enhancing accessibility and versatility. The integrated swim platform is a nod to classic Chris-Craft styling, complemented by a tumblehome aft that adds to the boat's elegant silhouette. The hull design includes 20 degrees of dead rise and a deep V-forward, ensuring a dry and smooth ride in various water conditions. Practical elements such as a retractable swim ladder and selectable exhaust integrated into the swim platform maintain the retro aesthetic while providing modern convenience. The boat's beam measures a trailerable 8 feet 6 inches, allowing for easy transport and shallow water access with only 23 inches of draft when the outdrives are raised.
Interior and Helm Features
Inside, the 25 Open Launch offers premium comfort with thickly padded custom upholstery crafted from double-stitched vinyl. Storage solutions are thoughtfully integrated, including lockers beneath the helm for coolers and ski equipment, as well as dry and wet storage compartments under the stern seating. The helm area is designed with a freestanding windshield and a companion dash that carries a retro perforated look, housing modern instrumentation and a concealed stereo system. The helm seat swivels and features a flip-up bolster to enhance visibility, while a fold-down cup holder discreetly tucks away in the peak for convenience.
Power and Performance
Performance-wise, the 25 Open Launch impresses with its ability to plane quickly, achieving planing in 5.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 50 miles per hour at 4900 RPM. At a cruising speed of 28.8 miles per hour, the boat operates quietly at 81 decibels, providing a comfortable and enjoyable ride. This efficient cruising speed also affords an impressive range of 254 miles, making it well-suited for extended outings. Chris-Craft offers a variety of gas or diesel powerplants to suit different preferences and performance needs.
Conclusion
The Chris-Craft 25 Open Launch successfully marries classic styling with contemporary luxury and functionality. Its thoughtful design, comfortable accommodations, and strong performance capabilities make it a standout choice for boaters seeking a vessel that honors tradition while embracing modern advancements. Whether cruising lakes or venturing offshore, the 25 Open Launch delivers an engaging and refined boating experience.
