One of Robert Perry's most thoughtful cruising designs. She is one of the few sailing yachts of her size that offers boat a living salon and a separate dining area. No need to live at your dining room table. This is fantastic for living aboard or at anchor when cruising.
The last two owners combined have spent a tremendous amount of Well thought out effort and money both refurbishing and improving this fine vessel. If you are ready to set out to see the world, Rubicon is for you.
Forward of the large and comfortable cockpit, you step down the companionway into large master stateroom, head with shower and a navigation area. Moving forward is a wonderful galley with Corian counters, a Force 10 stove and Adler Barbour 12v refrigeration to starboard. Across from the galley to port is a large and comfortable convertible dinette. One of the wonderful features of this design is that instead of having to live at your dining room table, like most sailboats this size; you move forward to a dedicated salon/living area. Further forward are lockers to port and a second head to starboard. Forward is a comfortable V-Berth second cabin.
The cockpit and deck area are roomy and easy to move about on.

The Biggest Pros and Cons
The 1979 Cheoy Lee Aft Cockpit Cruising Ketch is a respected vessel that has garnered a following for its solid construction and cruising capabilities. Here are some of the notable pros and cons of this classic sailboat:
Pros
Robust Construction: Cheoy Lee yachts are known for their durability and quality workmanship. The fiberglass hull of the 1979 ketch provides a strong, seaworthy vessel that can withstand various sailing conditions.
Spacious Interior: With its ketch rig and aft cockpit design, this model offers a roomy interior layout, allowing for comfortable living quarters. The salon typically features ample seating, and the galley is designed for easy meal preparation.
Versatile Rigging: The ketch rig offers versatility in sail management. The smaller mizzen sail allows for better balance and ease of handling, particularly in heavier winds, making it suitable for both novice and experienced sailors.
Good Storage: These vessels often come equipped with generous storage options, making them ideal for long cruising trips. You can store gear, provisions, and equipment without overcrowding living spaces.
Classic Aesthetics: The Cheoy Lee’s timeless lines and traditional styling appeal to those who appreciate classic boat design. It has a certain charm that many modern vessels lack.
Strong Community: Owners of Cheoy Lee yachts often form clubs and communities which can provide valuable resources, advice, and camaraderie among like-minded enthusiasts.
Cons
Age Considerations: Being a 1979 model, some systems and components may require updates or replacements due to wear and tear. It's important to thoroughly inspect the vessel and address any necessary maintenance.
Heavy Weight: The sturdy construction also means that these boats can be on the heavier side, potentially impacting performance and responsiveness in light winds compared to lighter modern cruisers.
Maintenance: Older boats may require more frequent maintenance to keep them in top condition. This can include everything from engine upkeep to managing the rigging and sails.
Limited Performance: While the ketch rig offers advantages, some sailors may find that it doesn't perform as high in wind speeds as other configurations, such as sloop-rigged vessels, especially in competitive sailing scenarios.
Resale Value: Although there is a dedicated market for classic Cheoy Lee yachts, the resale value may not always reflect the investment put into maintenance and upgrades.
Space Configuration: While spacious, the layout of older models may not cater to all modern preferences, which could be a consideration for buyers looking for specific amenities or features.
