Coronado Runabouts Inc. in Perkins Oklahoma purchased the molds for the boat hulls directly from the Century factory so that they could produce modern, high quality, fiberglass Coronado’s. In order to do this, they assembled a core work force of meticulous craftsmen with many years of experience in their respective fields. The goal was to retain the classic look using modern materials and techniques to produce a boat that requires far less maintenance than the Century Coronado’s produced in the past. The new Coronado’s are lighter, stronger and more rigid than the previous models and can take up to almost a year to build which shows the attention to detail and quality that is unmatched with these limited produced Coronado’s.
This 2001 Coronado has many improved features from the earlier fiberglass Coronado’s including; premium gelcoats, a skin coat of vinyl ester resin and fiberglass mat in the hull for maximum protection against osmotic blistering, all plywood is XL-10 treated marine ply and is fully encapsulated in fiberglass, the bilge is flow coated with gelcoat to allow for an easy clean up, all cavities under the floor are filled with expanding floatation foam and sealed with fiberglass, a service channel is fiberglassed in place under the floor for all engine wiring and the steering cable to be routed through, all the carpet in the boat is a 40 oz. premium marine carpet (industry standard is 20 oz.), all seat frames are molded fiberglass and are carpeted inside and out, the engine box is fiberglass with smooth gelcoat inside and richly upholstered outside, the dash is solid mahogany with a high luster finish, the steering is a mahogany tilting wheel, the windshield is a curved safety glass in a chrome-plated brass frame with opening vents, and more.
This 2001 Coronado 21ft is powered by a MerCruiser Horizon V8 with 380 hp and has 334 engine hours. Extras on this modern Coronado include; dual stainless steel trumpet horns, dual automatic bilge pumps, teak swim platform with stainless steel hardware, a custom table that fits perfectly between the driver and passenger seats for picnics or hors d’oeuvres, a custom carpeted ski locker in the floor, a storage door compartment under the bow, and much more.
