The Carver 38 Santego is available in two different cabin configurations. One featuring a master stateroom with a large island berth, and another which includes both a master and guest stateroom. This is the latter.
"Juli Anna" is in excellent condition and anyone would be proud to own her. After 40 years of boating, the owners are calling it quits. They've owned this boat for 26 years and always used her on Lake Superior. They are constantly cleaning it and keeping it in top notch condition. Advertised as a double stateroom, it is a mid-cabin design. The forward master stateroom with hanging locker, provides a large double berth with access to the large, private head which includes a shower stall. The midship stateroom on the starboard side also has its own hanging locker and has a sofa lounge that converts to upper and lower bunks for guests. There is a U-Shaped galley to port with a large lounge just aft with a third hanging locker. Across is the U-shaped dinette which converts to a double. The overall area of the cabin is large and comfortable with 6'6" headroom. She sleeps 7 in total. Through a screened sliding double door there is a roomy aft deck with integrated swim platform with steps which has davits to stow the included dinghy and outboard. There are walkways on the side decks for easy access forward where anchoring and mooring is convenient. There are port & starboard stairways (not ladders) to the fly-bridge. The fly-bridge has a walk-around console with helm is located in the center. There is bench seating at the front of the console, more seating at the front of the bridge, along the sides and behind to accommodate a lot of guests. The new enclosed canvas enclosure was purchased 3 years ago to the tune of $9,000 and is in excellent condition. Visibility is great at the fly-bridge helm and wrap around seats provide plenty of room for passengers. The hull planes easily with exceptional tracking ability. At 3000 RPM she cruises at 15 MPH and Max Speed is 24 MPH. 19" chines at the transom provide extra amount of initial stability that is evident as one steps aboard the boat. A second chine is added at the bow to eliminate bow spray. The Kohler generator is a rugged 4-cycle-4 cylinder engine. It contains an integral heat exchanger & exhaust manifold and has a direct connection between the engine and generator to reduce belt, pulleys, etc. There's an oil pressure gauge mounted on the engine & has safety shutdowns for low oil or high temperature. The fuel pump is anti-vapor locking. The owner says the boat is very dependable and that is one of the many highlights of this vessel. The boat is stored inside in a heated building, so inspecting her during the winter is no problem. Always in fresh water.
